    FWIW: Got in an email.

Subject: THIS ARTICLE EDITED BY "CHICKEN" WHO RUNS "THE RANT" ON RP

Perrilloux and what I know... (Posted on 2/19 at 4:16 p.m.)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by Chicken: belowpar is well connected and is a credible source on matters related to the LSU football program. I had the privilege of meeting him before the BCS Title game. If he is stating something as fact, it is indeed a fact.

This might all be germans, because I haven't been around the last few days, but I'm going to post what I know, and scream at me if you want, but what I'm saying is atleast confirmed.

Since Perrilloux's beginning at LSU there has been problems and he's gotten away with a lot...The altercation last year was worse than what was made public. Perrilloux has continued to push the line of what is allowed and what isn't...It all stems from small things as in missing meetings, classes, late to practice, just small issues that have built up.

I'm not sure on what exactly put it over the top this time, but the issue is that the team was starting to become divided...Teammates are seeing what he is getting away with and saying why can't I get away with things like this. He's been an horrible example to the other players and it was starting to make other players act up.

Imagine being on the team and seeing Perrilloux act the way he does and know that if you were the one doing the same things you would have been gone a long time ago...Something had to be done and the coaching staff had to put their foot down. Team unity is very important, and the rift that was forming was unacceptable and Perrilloux's behavior was unacceptable.

My two cents, scream at me if this has all already been said.

I agree with this, you cant put one player over the good of the team.

There are lots of things that are blown out of proportion by fans, but this incident isnt. Division due to perceived favorites is about the worst thing that can happen. Other players will start doing the same things and then it seems as if people always end of taking sides between guys on the team and they end up fighting and acting like eight year olds.

Weather it is confirmed or not it in RP's case is to be speculated, but it makes complete sense in general. This is classic behavior having been dealt with in the military for generations. Ya get one guy acting like a tool and then others want to be a tool for the point of fairness while the remaining are still trying to figure out what a tool is.

Should this be true in RP's case then a suspension, LOA, jerk off period, is not enough. You start getting a team divided over ONE persons history and the same leadership actions have not become convincing, then that person has gotta go.

If this is in fact occurring then it is time to bleed the freak. I hope it is not happening for the sake of the staff and the team cause this fire only gets hotter without properly removing the oxygen.

Everything I've read so far points to one thing - RP is a CANCER to this team.

Last summer I helped coach a boys baseball team. We were young and basically built a team from scratch, with 1 exception. Returning to the roster was 1 big-time stud player, but he was a head case. Everytime he made a mistake, got out, or we lost, he had a temper tamtrum.

This kid became a CANCER to our team because we did a poor job of managing him. Many of the parents resented him and the other kids stayed away from him. Basically, we ignored as much of it as we could because we had 10 other kids giving us max effort. We focused on developing the other kids (8 of them return in 2008) so that we could make this year's team as good as possible.

Looking back, I wish we had kicked him off the team, or at least benched him more than 1 inning.

I have faith that CLM and staff will do the right thing!

I am hearing the opposite regarding his teammates actions. They are rallying around him, expressing their need for him to get his act together for the sake of team's season, and focusing on football practice.

Remember, missing classes and meetings are not rare for any team and others at LSU have been privately punished for those actions. In RP's case he has to learn that when he does something it is magnified because of his status and past troubles. The information will be leaked in his cases almost every time. I think he will get that chance to redeem himself and I pray that he can look back on this and say that these times were the turning point of his career and life.

I am in no way worried at this time about his teammates based on conversations with people close to the situation. I also trust Miles in any decision he has to make and that decision has already been made IMO. Dont have a link but Miles stated he will address his decision sometime next week. That means it is likely that he will remain on the team b/c he would have ended this already if it wasn't the case.

This really boils down to the leadership theme that some on this and other boards want to deny is important. You can't just perform physically. You have to lead in the locker room, in the weight room, in the quad, and in the bars. Otherwise, you're bringing the team down.

The more I read, the more I wonder if RP has it in him to lead the team. Some of us are giving him a WHOLE lot of credit where the information says we probably shouldn't.

But I'll still hold out hope. Maybe self-preservation will kick in and he'll realize he's throwing away millions of dollars.

A head case in boys baseball? Jeez, that's a bad deal. How old are these boys.
