Easier said than done. Yes that would be the proper thing to do. It depends on whether RP's actions were related to his father's death; if so, and if it did affected him deeply, then I suggest that the fans give him some slack. I am sure a lot of us had gone through the experience of death in the family.

In any event the truth would prob. come out later, and I trust CLM would make the right decision.:milesmic:

Good point, CLM will make the right decision. And he has to do whats best for the team if its not bogus. You cant put one player over the rules, then you will really not be respected by anyone in the organization.

Re: WWL siting inside sources from LSU/lsusport.net story - merged threads

It's been covered but I'd like to add that Mark was arrested but never charged. The girl never agreed to press charges, it's not up to her but to the DA. The DA concluded there was no physical evidence nor secondary witness evidence to support her claims. And yes I think the P&G glasses are on. What's worse? To see a headline saying someone was arrested for fake ID or that they were arrested for sexual assault?

The Duke case was far worse IMO. Nifong's been disbarred. To use false accusations to boost his political career is despicable. That Lacrosse team will always bear the stigma.

i'm struggling to find a firm stance on this issue.

i guess partly because the details are so foggy.

i know that this last incident may not be as serious as a counterfeiting investigation or fake id thing or even a bar fight. especially in light of losing a family member (even if there wasn't a really great relationship there). but it's the entire body of work.

so the question i keep coming back to is....

If RP was 3 star 2nd string LB, would he still be on the team??

jimmy ott said yesterday that les miles has overruled the leadership council in the past re: perrilloux (meaning les favored leniency on RP). so basically this guy's own teammates know that he needs to shape up.

so how weak is the camel's back and how many straws does RP have?

i'm not close to the program, i don't know any players, coaches, support staff etc. but the vibe i get re: RP is not a good one.

the shame of the matter is that without football what kind of future does RP have?? in the same breath i'd think that we'd be doing a disservice to this kid by kicking him off, i feel like he's had more than a few opportunities to act in a way befitting of a team leader, and has mostly passed up those opportunities.

this has got to be a two way street. he's not the first guy in the history of college football with issues. some take the opportunities given them to better themselves, some do not.

those who don't, imo, should not have the privelidge to wear the purple and gold on fall saturdays because it cheapens the fact that so many other young men follow the rules to get that privelidge.

players shouldn't disrespect their scholarships by not going to classes. they shouldn't disrespect their coaches and teammates by not going to meetings and training sessions (in my best jim rome impression: errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, allegedly)

we are LSU!. we are :crystal:. but even better than that, we have a team full of great young men and coaches with integrity.

at what price do we want to avoid becoming thug u west or tennessee south?? will it cost a shot at one of these :crystal: in '08? if it does, i'm ok with that.

because if you win championships with less than virtuous young men, what example does it set?

i hope this ends up being nothing, i hope this ends up being a misunderstanding. but above all, hope against hope, i would hope this would be the last incident with RP. how confident are you that this would be the last?

i trust in les to make the right decision. but i hope if he's reinstated (and i have no idea of the real possiblility of that happening) that les is doing so because he believes in RP and not because he's QB1.

les has one of these :crystal:, he doesn't have anything to prove because he;s done nothing but prove himself since getting here.

sorry for taking you into my journey of mixed emotions...
now back to your regularly scheduled thread...

I have mixed feelings as well, but I've decided to sit in the middle w/ the Swiss (and not pass judgement on RP) and wait until more details are released.

Hopefully, he's only missed a few practices and such, and CLM is trying to put his foot down and make a stand NOW before it gets worse.

It's a little late for that. It's now one of two things, 1. It was nothing and because of all the "hoopla" it is now "something" or 2. With so little being reported, there is more to the situation.

i trust in les to make the right decision. but i hope if he's reinstated (and i have no idea of the real possiblility of that happening) that les is doing so because he believes in RP and not because he's QB1.

Again, I think we all need to take a deep breath and let it all shake out. I would find it hard to believe that all of this has come from RP missing a meeting or class or even a combination of them while grieving a dead parent. It just doesn't make sense but that is only my worthless speculation. Time will tell, until then there isn't much we can do. I have deeper opinons but for once will refrain. :thumb:

    Three comments:

    • Perilloux needs to lose his 'tude. Street cred from his homies doesn't help a potential professional athlete one damned bit.
    • Perrilloux's teammates need to let him know that his silly chit is hurting them all and that they expect it to disappear.
    • Jarrett Lee is going to get a LOT of snaps in spring practice. If he ends up looking like the quarterback of the future . . .

I don't know that ANY of us know the 100% full story...and this really should have NOTHING to do w/ football and EVERYTHING to do w/ his blatent disgregard for rules and authority......If he is allowed to continue down this path...mark my words...he may win LSU another NC, be a fine pro football player one day..but there will also be the day when something far more serios happens to him b/c he'll think he can't be touched b/c he always got away w/ things....its the "oh naw man, it can't happen to me.." mentality. And its a real shame b/c I hear he's a good kid that just makes some bad choices...which I'm sure Les knows too, but at some point you do his LIFE a dis-service by giving him YET ANOTHER chance.
