Thanks crunch. I really do respect the opinion of both clair and yourself. :thumb:

He missed a practice, 2 classes and a meeting.

They suspended him to set a precedent early that this won't be tolerated from anyone.

Imagine the young third-string freshman player who sees that if you miss a practice, you get suspended, even if you're the starting QB.

Think that sends a message to work hard and do the right things?

He is in no way, shape or form in any danger of being kicked off the team.

Part of why he was suspended is because the coaches feel he needed time away from everything anyway.

It's better to say they "suspended him" than to say "he took a leave of absence," because then people will question "Is his head in the game," etc... etc...

:geauxtige RP has the talent to take LSU to another NCG. I don't think he has the leadership to take us to another NCG though. If he can get his head straight along with his priorities he will be a great Tiger.

Well, what did I not know, I did not know that Joe Namath ever slept in CLM's basement, in fact, I did not know that CLM had a basement in his house in Baton Rouge. In the meantime, get rid of problem child, RP, he sounds more like a Maurice Clarett every day. Some people only care about their own name and have no respect for the name of LSU. Good riddance.
  5. Re: WWL siting inside sources from LSU/lsusport.net story - merged threads

You don't do that by publicly suspending a player. There is more to this, I think.
  6. What does Les do?

Kick him off the team and you are staring at a 8-4 or 9-3 club. Keep him on the team and you are probably a top 5 team with a 10-2 or 11-1 record.

    Not easy decision.

Wafb reported it was due to missing classes, workouts and has recently become arrogant over being handed the starters job. (recently become arrogant?) By all accounts he's been that way since high school and based on recent history...nothings seems to have changed. It's time to move on from the RP experiment.
  7. Re: What does Les do?

Its hard to make a decision about a kids life when you dont know what he did.
  8. Re: What does Les do?

you have no clue of the circumstances.

  9. Re: WWL siting inside sources from LSU/lsusport.net story - merged threads

Ok, this thread is way too long to read it all.

My 2 cents. RP has shown time and time and time (is that 3?) that there are rules to being a college athlete. He doesn't seem to get it (even though there is tragedy with father passing away). The more slack LSU gives him, the longer noose he will weave. I would love to see him taking snaps next fall. I would love to see his indefinite suspension to be an oops, I missed a class. I would love to see him reinstated.

But he seems to have a problem. What other player has these kinds of recurring problems? Why are all these problems seeking him? Perhaps these problems are substantial.

I would love to see RP become a big time QB for LSU but this guy has skeletons in his closet that are only beginning to surface right now. A total break may be in order (though I want to see him lead this team). I think the next few weeks will determine if he wants to or not.

This is pretty much the best post of this thread.

Well said. And by someone who is close to the team.
