I disagree, you say congress never voted for it but the democrats DID give the president permission to do what he did. I blame the democrats for not insisting on a vote. As for the other words you use, not everyone in this country agrees with you! We went into Iraq for many reasons, most people agreed at the time after 9/11.
Why don't you ask them? Blame both sides if you want? The Democrats went along with it though, blame them for not forcing a vote. Btw, Thats the way I feel about Roe vs Wade, let America vote instead of some bogus law made up by a liberal supreme court!
The Republicans have gone along with it, blame them for not forcing the issue. I'm a registered Republican, though, so simply letting Republicans off the hook because the Democrats screw up doesn't fly with me.
I said you can blame both parties but I hold the Democrats responsible because they were the opposition party at the time here. They agreed with the policy, you say their was no vote well it is their fault. You can't change history or the fact, you may not like it but the dems gave in. I'm sorry but this is like saying I'm a McCain or Obama supporter but.... Your story doesn't add up here because in another thread you called me devisive. Any republican would recognize that the democrats were the ones devisive at a time of war by saying it is a losing war, surge wouldn't work, etc. not I. That is why I said that we beat the Iraqi's and Dems back home by winning the war in Iraq. Thats also ignoring the old argument that the troops could lose moral while hearing Dems like , Pelosi, Kerry and Martha say all is lost during the war. Your perspective of everything I said leans democrat. We have now won, the Democrats lost their arguments about the Iraq war, maybe next time they will be positive. Say what you want about the war but Bush has beaten them time and time again.
:insane: Republican President, Republcian Congress, Republican plan, Republican fiasco . . . and you blame the democrats!
It makes perfect sense to me in the context that I provided. I wasn't the one complaining about us not voting on the war. The Dems caved, plain and simple, case closed! They didn't have the back bone and stood their ground the way you did! Under these circumstances the opposition party, democrats didn't stand their ground or demand a vote or something, that is why they are too blame when someone brings up the fact that there was no vote!
The Democrats are to blame that there was no vote? How about the entire system got screwed up along the way and not enough people from either party care to make it right? This is why I say you are divisive. We are all in this together but you want to make this a case of us and them. The fact is that I'm a registered Republican. If you think that because I criticize Republicans or don't fall in line with the majority Republican platform that makes me less Republican, I think that makes you divisive, unwelcoming, and unwilling to admit that we should work together and that the other side is not completely wrong. The Republicans are about as full as crap as the Democrats, in general, but for some reason only the Democrats bother you. This falls in line with what Fox and the Republican talking heads are teaching from the pulpit. It doesn't fall in line with wanting what is best for the US. I will stand behind my belief that going into Iraq was the wrong decision and I blame both parties. The Democrats caved, in general (I believe Obama was against the war), and the Republicans, in general, carelessly led us into an ill-conceived battle. Congress never declared war. You blame the Democrats and I blame all in the government who have allowed the president this excessive and unconstitutional power.
How do you make it right? Every time the government gets a panel together to investigate or make something right it scares the hell out of me, republican or democrat. That is because they often don't get it right. And the dems aren't because of their stands during the war, the language politicians used but they get a pass? This is wrong, we aren't all in this together. Democrat vs Republican and it showed during the last 3 years. I'm devisive and those who said horrible things about the troops, the president and an unwinnable war aren't? Yet again I'm devisive and others who said much worse things aren't. We did defeat the democrats in this war because of their rhetoric. Work together? Thats not logical, the dems quit working with the republicans after the 2000 election when Al Gore was cheated! The only way I want Republicans working with Democrats is if Dems compromise for a change. The republicans compromise too much and the democrats are WRONG! Examples: 1) Gun control and gun bans in cities, yes some guns should be outlawed but once again this goes way to far and no one knows how to stop it. 2) Abortion is murder 3) Ted Kennedy's immigration bills 4) McCain Feingold I can agree that they are all full of crap that is why I said what I did earlier in this thread. So if they are full of crap, how are they going to make it right. I'm for a less government and less government regulations because they don't do anything right. I did say I blame both sides, several times btw but I do blame dems more. I own fox btw! Nope, it falls in line with republican values are right and the dems are wrong! The problem is that we don't live in a utopian society. Who determines the best for US? Someone will always be unhappy about the best of US! You, Red and anyone else who opposed the war isn't going to change a thing. I could kick myself in the behind for every argument I got in over that. Most people were for the war before they were against it, plain and simple! Hindsight is 20/20 I can agree with this, I've said over and over you can blame both parties but I blame the dems more because they are the opposition party and they caved. I don't care one way or the other. Once we are there its too late to do anything about it unless you want to just leave. I won't repeat above over to your response here. What are you planning to do about it? You can use all those slogans from the left. Once again we are there and there is nothing you can do about it. Vote Obama and see if he pulls the troops out any faster than the time table.
