Individually, Russell is second in the SEC and 11th in the nation in pass efficiency with a 164.8 rating. Through six games, Russell has connected on 105 of 156 passes for 1,474 yards and 11 touchdowns. Russell is also second in the league and No. 18 in the nation in total offense with 252.3 yards per game. Do I want him to sit because he had 2 bad games??? Ugh....based on the above facts, NO. If this year is "already over", then did you feel the same way in '04 when we were sitting exactly where we are now--at 4-2 (1-2) but ended up playing in the Capital One bowl and came a Hail Mary short of a 10-win season????
You can try to make it look better by posting stats, but the fact is the majority of those stats came off of ULL, Zona, Tulane, and MSU. We play in the toughest confrence in college ball. If you can't lead your team to a W in big time games you ain't got thit.
and Flynn would have done worlds better, right? At least I have facts to support my point of view instead of yours where you just claim he isn't worth a "thit" and expect everyone to take it as gospel.
First of all i didn't claim JR to not be worth "thit". That was in refrence to the team in general. If you can't win games against teams like UF, AU, GA, or UT you will not fair well in the confrence. Next I can't give you any stats on Matt Flynn because most of the time he is playing mop up work. But I do know that the team followed behind his leadership skills in a little known game called the Peach Bowl, in which we were the underdogs because of his lack of experince. And if I remember correctly Matt is 1 and 0 bowl games. And good ole JR has yet to start one.
Well, just look around both college and pro football. You think even the best of QB's ALWAYS put up 300+ yards passing, 2-3 TD's and no INT's every time they play another dominant team?? You have to give SOME credit to Auburn and Florida for being top 5 teams. If you're a top 5 team, you don't exactly let your opponent pass all over your arse.
Oh no I agree with you. There are some defense's out there that if you can get 200 yards passing on you had a sportscenter day. Our defense is one of them. Don't missundertand what I'm saying JR is not a bad QB. When he is HOT he is the best in the business. BUT look out if he gets cold. All I'm trying to say is JR was the #1 QB outta AL. but Matt Flynn was #1 outta TX for a reason too.:geauxtige
Oh no, I agree with you on that, there are some defenses that if you get 200 yards passing on them you had a sportscenter day. Our defense being one of them. I just don't want to be watching NFL football a couple years from now and they are comparing Flynn to Tom Brady. Laughing at us cause he sat the bench for four years. And no one can disagree cause thanks to Les we will never know.
JR's future lies in the NFL. IMO he would be wise to forego his senior year of eligibility. Essentially he would gain one year "NFL experience" learning from the sidelines vs playing another year in P&G ala Matt Leinart. Gaudy stats in NCAA football may get him into the NFL but they won't keep him there. His professional career will need some "polishing" as they say. 'Tis better to be considered a diamond-in-the-rough than a jewel-in-the-drawer. Let's all support our Tigers the rest of this season and future seasons to come. Some of us old-timers remember the realllllly down years of 4-3-3, etc. :geauxtige
