    AJ McCarron.

    stats from his last game.

3-16 with 1 INT for all of 55 yards.
    or compare these 2 QB's

    35-67 52% 588 Yards 5 TD's 1 INT

    52-94 55% 994 Yards 11 TD's 7 INT's

the 2nd one is the #1 rated arm and #1 "pro-style" QB according to rivals.
    oh and #1 overall player.

    TheDude I'm calmer than you.

It has nothing to do with nuance. It's called context. If you had seen him play, you would not be saying this.

most of the times you cant go by stats to judge them. they are being recruited for their arm strength, accuracy, decision making, etc.

a qb could run a screen to perfection (which is all a college coach is looking for) and one qb's rb could make a few miss and go eighty yards while the other team's could get tackled. does that make one qb better than the other?

for example i havent seen any of sheps games but when mccarron takes a snap he already has five defensive linemen running at him. shep will have an all-sec line and wr's when he comes in and if he still cant throw accurately then we will have a problem, but i wouldnt be too worried just yet.

Shep has amazing potential at any position, but Im not sure if in the end he will indeed stay at QB. Unless LSU runs a lot more out of the spread like W Va does, he will have to improve on his accuracy. The talent is there, he just needs the mechanics. The work ethic is definitely there. I think Shep is definitely too valuable to redshirt. He could be used in so many ways with a genius like Crowton. There are tons of gimmick plays and sets to throw opponents off that Shep could be used in. I think as a Fresh he will be used much more as a runner, receiver, decoy, than as a passer. His potential overall is pretty limitless with his work ethic and leadership skills. Wherever Shep ends up he will be a difference maker. I do agree though with Clair that he has a long ways to go as a passer to become a SEC caliber QB, unless its more of a running spread.

Peyton Manning could have played at Vandy and his stats wouldn't have been near what they were at Tenn. The NFL Scouts still would have put him in the top players in the draft that year. Same thing with Shep just on a HS level.

There's a reason Shep and Barkley and these other guys get invited to elite quarterback camps.

That statement speaks volumes for Shepard as a man. He wants to play QB, yet admits Lee will be tough to beat out and he might be the man the next coming yeas. The kid is still all LSU though. Great kid and glad he will be a Tiger!

    NELA_Tigerfan When's kickoff?

Is it just me or could that comment imply more? I hope he doesn't get happy feet...

Im real confident that he is all LSU. The rest of the comments are very positive towards LSU. He has said that he wants his shot at QB. If he doesnt pan out he will play other positions if need be. He could be used in multiple positions until his time comes, if it does at QB. Some schools have used QBs at WR if they are athletic enough. Im always a bit leary about early commits from out of state, but on the current commits Im least worried about Shep.
