Brandon Lafell has dropped alot of passes as well as a tiger. And look he's playing with the Carolina Panthers. I remember Dewayne Bowe having laser surgery on his eyes to see the ball better because he was having problems looking the ball in. Receivers go throught this. I'm betting he gets his shit together this season. Why? because he's a senior..

Jack of all trades and a master of none. Having said that, I think he'll have a great year at WR and get drafted.

Xavier Carter was a track guy... He wasn't really a football player and those ratings came based off his speed. When a guy can run like the wind he automatically becomes a 4 star recruit. I thought if Xavier Carter could have stayed an extra year instead of going pro in track and field he would have had a break out season as well.

A bunch of guys make plays with their feet...hundreds of guys in the NCAA each year. You don't want to see the footage of him throwing passed in the Under Armour skills test or the game after HS. I felt sorry for the guy. Once again, people keep acting like he hasn't had a QB and I have no issue with that part. Where your argument falls flat is that Randall had the same QBs...Beckham had the same QBs, and they came through. Shepard has not. Any decent 1-A receiver scores on the busted coverage in the 1st Alabama came instead of cradling the ball against his chest and off balance due to that, falling on his own butt.

Lafell and Bowe dropped passes for 1 year each...Shepard has already been dropping passes for 2 years + Lafell and Bowe at least knew how to block, run proper pass patterns, get YAC, etc.

Correct about Xavier being a track guy but he did play HS football. Right now, I put Shepard in exactly the same category, a very fast guy with few football skills. BTW, I remember a different Carter than you do. He used to run out of bounds on kickoffs because he didn't like to get hit. I wouldn't like to get hit either but that is why some people shouldn't play SEC football. Shepard to his credit doesn't avoid the action....Carter did.

I agree....it wasn't just the QB's either, Crowton's play calling was terrible here. I know he's a spread guy, and we didn't run that, but every time Shep came in the whole stadium was looking for that dreaded bubble screen. I think that play was worse than the short side option everyone screams about.

No doubt Shep is going to be a situational player, but I think that the OC and Mett will the ball to him in open space a lot more.

Shep will get more touches this year.

    (Hopefully 40 :p)

IMO, Crowton's playcalling wasn't that bad....maybe a B- grade in fact. Where Crowton got an F was QB development which of course affects what plays can be called. But Crowton wasn't here last season and Shepard caught 14 passes (albeit suspended 3 games). Shepard ran downfield a lot last season but a lot of those short passes were his fault. When you run "rounded off" routes you end up about 3 yards deeper than you should...surprise...the ball ended up too low for him. Not a bad pass...a bad route caused the INC. I don't expect Shepard to be anymore of a factor than the last 3 years and 40 catches is a pipe dream...with questionable content in the pipe. :D

    Sure they did !!!

Ruben Randle at Baylor or Oregon would have set the NCAA record in pass receptions.

Whoever thinks that LSU's receivers didn't suffer because of poor QB play is grasping at straws.

We all know that receivers' stats did suffer with Lee and Jefferson, but the question, which hopefully will be answered soon, is, "How much better will Sheppard be with a good QB and will it equate to a "breakout year"?

There is no one I will be pulling for more than RS, but suffice it to say that I'll be most pleasantly surprised if he does indeed live up to his five star rating.
