Right but we do play top defenses every single year, defenses that do expose those mistakes.

And there is not a QB in college football right now that would not make mistakes against those defenses. That is just the way it is... You can understand that and have reasonable expectations, or you could continue to never be satisfied.

I totally understand that but in the areas that he made mistakes last season are still the same areas. So to me that shows no growth or improvement as a player.

I agree Russell does make some mistakes but which qb does not make any?? Winning is the important thing and he is 21-4 as a starter. He has NO running game in big games either though to help make the passing game easier. This is only the second time in history we have won at Knoxville, the only other time in 1988. We should be celebrating this victory along with the player of the week award. Not very many other qb's had this kind of success at LSU in the winning percentage category. Bottom line is he wins games when he is at qb.

Give up your "Hate Russell at all costs" B.S. will ya?

There are 7--yes SEVEN QB's in the SEC that have thrown more INTs that JR (with 7) this season and only one starter, Brandon Cox (with 5), has thrown less INT's.

You think 7 INT's are the end of the world and make JR the worst possible choice for a QB at LSU, yet you don't have the first clue as to what the rest of the QB's in the conference are doing.

JR ranks 4th in the country in completion % and is 16th in the nation in passing yards and 4th in yards per attempt.

And on the national level, there are 47 other starting QB's across the country that have thrown MORE INT's that JR and 26 others that have thrown just as many as JR.

Look, we all know you're a Flynn supporter and want him as the starter. Fair enough. You're entitled to your own opinion. But quit being so nieve.

I was talking about the week in question not the entire season.

I am not a Flynn supporter because the few times we have seen him this season he appears to really have something wrong with his throwing motion.

Personally if RP is the future of this team I would like to see him get alittle more PT.

My beef with Russell is that the same mistakes he was making last season are the same mistakes this season. I would like to see Russell grow as a player and change these bad habits, which he seems to not be able to let go of.

Well, JR has improved, you just fail to see that he HAS. Last year, he threw 15 INT's.

And while I acknowledge that I guess he could still reach that number, it's unlikely.

He's already surpassed last year's passing yardage...he's on pace to surpace his TD pass total from a year ago...and right now, he's thrown for less INT's than he did last season.

The way I see it, JR has improved, you just have a bar set to a height that even Tyrus Thomas couldn't jump up and touch.

Am I the only one that sees that JR throws mostly short, 5-7 yard quick hits and screens, which leads to his high completion percentage? Nearly everything thrown down field hangs up way too long, so all of the playcalling seems to be that JR just telegraphs his throws quickly to Bowe. I would think most of the SEC QBs could be as productive with this gameplan and set of receivers. How many times did he throw that 'in-screen' to Bowe for a gain?

He isn't spectacular. He's good-decent. That's it. Stop worshipping someone who is defined by his receivers. There were quite a bit of acrobatic catches (Doucet in particular).

I'm not a big Flynn guy, but to say that JR is nearly perfect is stretching it.

Our most popular routes seem to be the 10-15 yarders. Think about how many 3rd and 10's we've picked up this year. Most of those were on comebacks or 90's of the 10-15 yard variety.

Very short memory. We ran that play a lot against Tennessee, but only because it was open. It hasn't been a play we've done a lot this season - and neither is any other 5-7 yard play.
