OK, why does Spurrier have a thing against LSU? I know people say it's because LSU didn't hire him. But didn't Arnsparger strongly recommend that we hire Archer, then turn around and hire Spurrier himself? Am I wrong or missing something? Given Arnsparger's supposed manipulation, it seems kind of childish for Spurrier to carry a chip on his shoulder, if he does.
That's would be a good thread topic, "What LSU opponent, and why, do you dislike the most"? Good question. I'll guess that everyone wants to see teams/people on top, fall. Human nature. That's why stories like Edwards, Clinton, Martha Stewart, movie stars, etc. sell. (Wow, just realized these were all democrats, didn't mean it like that- let me add Newt, and Bush for arguments sake to be fair but don't want to turn this into a political thing where it gets moved). Personally, I'd grown up with a strong dislike of Bama (I'm sure some are getting tired of hearing me say that cause I have several times). When I was young(er), they used to hammer us. With NFL, I was a big Saints fan and one of my dad's buddies in Law School at LSU was this kid, Robby Snelus (Haven't heard from him in 40 years- if you're out there, watch how you've scared me). :hihi: He was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and every year the Saints sucked (Their Fried, I'm not that old) and Dallas was winning their division. To this day, I hate Dallas, course any team from Texas. Guess SS must be a little envious of us, his interest in coaching here kinda confirms that.
The marching band could use some reps:lol: Seriously, we will be able to tell very early (first quarter) if this game is gonna be a blowout. Pattern is usually a couple touchdowns in the first half and utter domination by the D. After that it kinda snowballs. If not, look for a chase. Later, Fur
Or you could bring back this old school thread and make it the 2007 edition. http://www.tigerforums.com/tigers-den/8680-what-team-sec-do-you-hate.html
Good find. I'll have to read it. Personally, I prefer "Dislike" to "Hate" but that's just me. I find, though I'm sometimes guilty of it too, it's silly that we, college football fans, "Hate" fans because of their affiliation.....generally speaking. For example, one of our members going to post on an opponent's board would, intially, anyway, be assumed to be a flamer/troll. I know a lot has to do with their chosing but even the ones who are nice.........it's like, okay, is he being sincere and is going to drop a bomb later on another thread? :hihi: At the end of the day, we're all Americans. I know that sounds lame but we seem to lose sight of that sometimes the way we treat one another over a game.......one we absolutely relish but still, a game.
I never said you couldn't change the title. It's a personal preference thing. I can see why people feel strongly about some words. And I can see how some people could care less about connotations. But at the end of the day, we are all Americans. Well at least those of us who are in America and\or were born here.
Despite the recent success of LSU, my like/dislike hasn't changed at all. Now, if your colors were orange...
I have a funny feeling about LSU making a lot of turnovers in this one. I really hope my gut is wrong
It's because of fans like you and Deceks that I've toned back my comments about Bama/Auburn. In speaking about them, I try more to be objective without being "Smackish", for lack of a better word. Other posters and their affilations too. I've always found terms like LSWho, Barners, Gumps (Though it was you who explained that one to me in the first place. lol), condoms, etc. to add little to college football and prefer focusing on the positives of my team- just my .02. I know you both would understand and not take it personal, and realize that it's an LSU forum but still.
