The first game I ever went to in Tiger Stadium was 1966, Florida (Spurrier) and LSU. We lost, 28-7 if i remember correctly. I believe this was the year after the Cotton Bowl when we beat Arkansas 14-7. Anybody remember Joe Labruzzo? Anyway, I suppose Spurrier does have a "thing" against LSU. I say give him a dose of his own medicine. 50+ points is fine with me BTW, I now live in the Birmingham area so you can imagine the crap I have to listen to, lol.
Egg-Zactly And the beauty of it is that Spurrier knows this (cause he's a clever mf), but there's not a damn thing he can do about it. That's why I think he's been down playing this game and stroking Tiger egos. Not to set up a win, but to align expectations to his personal advantage and also to calm some of the anti-Spurrier bias in Baton Rouge, just in case Michigan offers Les a big ole' check. Cynical? Of course. There's no other way to accurately live one's life.
Sidebar to this thread: is there any coach that has done so much and gotten so little respect for it as Les Miles?
you're right. 4X-3 is not running it up...it's more like the standard. 6X-3 - that would be running it up.
What I consider running up the score is keeping your starters in well after the game is in hand just to pad stats and score a bunch of points. I don't think Miles would do this for various reasons. Mostly because he would not want to put starters in unnecessary risk of injury and subbing gives the younger players needed reps. If a coach puts his backups in, and they still keep scoring, what is he supposed to do? Tell his players to play less good?
I'm not ready to say we will easily run the score up on SC. Their defense is pretty good and I think they will be ready to play. They have a lot of confidence and will play hard. We have a hobbled QB and I think they will come after him. I hope our OL can perform like they did against VTech and not like they did against MSU. I'm still not 100% confindent in the OL because of the MSU game. I don't know if MSU's DL was just betting than VTechs or what. My worries: O-line performing like they did at MSU Hobbled Flynn (worried that he can't move well and is risking further injuring the ankle Doucet being out and needing WR's with little experience to step up Muffing punts ala MTSU Short handed D-line (this will hurt us in the 4th qtr a bit)
