The actual construction of the two wouldn't be the same, but then again that study was before the additional suites and higher costs for them. We could add a ton more and there is already heavy interest in the high dollar seats. The new stadium would payoff down the line and TAF could spend their money on nice additions instead of renovations and they wouldn't have to renovate so often. Either way it wouldnt feel the same.
I agree with your views on expansion, however, I don't think we will complete replace TS all at once. I believe the south end will be the first to be dismantled and rebuilt. It'll be some what easy to demolish that portion compared to the circa 1924 seats and the only expansion would be of a few thousand seat max. No extra upper decks, just one big structure with hopefully a huge HD jumbotron so the fans can have further proof that all refs are against LSU. However, I'm fairly certain that they would not have to demolish the upper decks to tear down the lower bowls, and I'm sure that that was a consideration when designing the uppers. As I'm sure you know, they are free standing. One is not support the other in any means. Structurally, the whole stadium is solid and could stand as is for another 50 years and have no problem. Concrete is some good stuff. As long as no major settling goes down, it'll stand.
I like the size, but I don't like that Toonces has once again replaced the classic tiger at the top. If you're gonna replace it, at least use the tiger eye.
Hopefully that is just a mockup and will be changed. Like the size of the screen though, and I am sure upper deck fans will love it.
What would capacity be then? 110,000?:insane: Imagine the traffic then I agree with Purpletiger. Use the railroad to shuttle rail coaches to and from the game or another thing be cool make a canal off the River that way we can tailgate on the water and come to the game by boat like Tennessee does.
