Well, under Nick we had Amp's injury--that was pretty significant wouldn't you say? We also had Skyler pretty banged up for an entire season under Nick Saban--an injury that caused him to play at no more than 80% for the entire year. Those are two injuries to significant players entering a season where they were thought to be counted on for major contributions. And in both of those cases, they happened in the early fall.
Re: Anyone hearing anything about an injury.. Let's remember that last season, when Kuale was having trouble grasping the defensive system, it was Highsmith that stepped in and, IMO, played admirably. I think Ali Highsmith is a very talented LB and even though Kuale is a more physical-looking player, I think Highsmith is more than capable of filling in.
LSU would have to ask for an exception to the rule like they did last year with Mario, which was turned down. To receive a medical redshirt a player has to miss 2 seasons with 2 separate injuries. Exceptions can be granted but they are rare. As for Miles practices, Mike S said that he was under the impression that the Tigers were practicing in helmets and shoulder pads only today, if that is the case then you really cannot blame the extra contact. Sourdough, those other players that were injured during Saban's regime other than Skyler and Amp, who were injured in the preseason, were hurt while playing in garbage time, which is much worse IMO.
It may be decided by when he graduates.. may end up with a deal like carey and prude.. or maybe he can just go psycho like that guy at OU...
Darned jarheads, we might as well throw away the sled and put up some brickwalls at the Ponderosa to run into. Maybe string up some barbed wire on the field instead of them sissy white lines, how 'bout some snipers in the upper deck and swap Tigerdogs at the concession stands for MREs...... We could schedule the Tikrit State University Fightin' Sand Mites (the NCAA would ban anything remotely resembling "terrorists")
Big Programs are supposed to be able to plug guys in when starters go down. LSU is on of the elite programs in the country. Ali will step up and do a fine job.
