I don't want to poop on anybody's party, but I've eaten at Bears in Covington for years, and I'm familiar with their food.

They're good...but think about it. They're no better than a thousand other small sandwich shops. All it takes is a little pride in your work to make good po boys. It's not rocket science...it's not like they're creating unique sauces or entrees on a daily basis.

I like Bears. They're good. (Good people too)

I can't stand the people that sell them their bread though because they treated me very unprofessionally when I was their customer. I switched from them to Gambinos and the quality is a lot better and a he!! of a lot more consistent. My customers compliment the Gambino bread often since I switched.

Nothing like a lil self serving plug there.:hihi: J/K My sis and bro in law ate at your place on the 23rd, they always tell me how good your food is. I can't wait to go visit them so that I can try it.:thumb:

I'd love for you to come to my place. Tell your sister and brother to pop into the kitchen and let me know who they are ! I probably met them because we were real slow on the 23rd.

No plug meant. I'm not really a poboy place anyway. We have table service and Tom Fitzmorris places us in the neighborhood restaurant category.

Bears is real good (especially the roast beef)...I was mainly speaking about a lot of other good sandwich places in the NO area that are equally good. My poboy selection is limited...I should have pointed that out.

I've not eaten a po boy in BR since the late 70s or early 80s but it's really easy to find a good poboy place around New Orleans.

But since we are mentioning shameless plugs...Tom Fitzmorris has ranked us in the top twenty-five for the entire New Orleans area as far as neighborhood restaurants go...(one of only two on the Northshore). :).

A national restaurant critic gave me five stars and put me in the top ten nationally for a book he was writing about the best small towns in America a couple of years ago. :thumb:

I think I know who your sister is...If I remember a tall beautiful brunette lady who is incredibly sweet. Do you have a Latin stepfather who lives in Michigan?

If so, your sister is a wonderful person. If not, she's not who I'm thinking of but I'm sure is still equally wonderful.

I'm sure that was the girl you had a dream about that nite, although my sister would be flattered by your compliments. Thank you for them.
