Re: Brent Musberger slowly becoming more disliked than Lou Holtz Is it by any chance that the dog's name is Herbie????
May and Holtz are idiots. End of discussion as far as I'm concerned. Herbie and Musberger definitely have their heads up the collective USC ass. It's ridiculous that announcers are on the air trying to influence voters. I know, it's nothing new but it's still despicable.
Yeah the Rose Bowl needs to get its head out of its arse and realize that the only good games it has had the last few years have been when they have went outside the "traditional" big 10-pac 10 snoozefest. 2005 Texas-Michigan, and 2006 MNC Texas-USC were both amazing games.
Great point. I'm big on tradition, but you've got to wake up and smell the coffee at some point, and the Rose Bowl Committee did not do that this year. Like I said earlier, had the Rose Bowl somehow gotten a USC vs Georgia or a USC vs Oklahoma match-up, and USC had won that game in a blow-out, then, and only then, could I see anybody arguing to AP voters that they should consider USC as the #1 team in their final poll. However, the way the Rose Bowl Committee decided it this year, they stuck USC with a team not even in the top 10, and ruined any slim shot USC had at an AP National Title (I say slim because neither the AP, Coaches, or Harris poll gave USC a single #1 vote in their most recent polls).
Which is surprising to me because I would have thought that the Rose Bowl would be just about anything to make their darlings look better! Maybe they were worried that USC didn't have a good chance against GA and thought it would be better to at least have them win! Sorry vball! I really try not to post this stuff because I like you but sometimes I become possessed!
Wow, just wow. Is it THAT hard for some of you to just acknowledge good football? If the announcers bother you, TURN THEM OFF! It's so easy. Sounds like some of ya'll listen just to hear what you say you hate to hear! Do you know that folks from other conferences think the same thing about the media and LSU or aOSU? For VABuckeye, Fred Davis was nearly run out of town when he chose USC over Ohio St. He had some serious discipline issues his first few years and missed out on playing time as a result. He's turned it around and was this year's Mackey Award winner. Fred was never going to be a WR, he's too darn big. As for the Rose Bowl Committee selecting Illinois instead of Georgia. For the last time, the rules were that the Rose needed permission from Sugar to have Georgia. While the call wasn't made, it's pretty clear that Georgia would never have been given up with Hawaii as the opponent. USC gets NO benefit from having Illinois instead of Georgia and the suggestion that USC wanted an easy win is as comical as suggesting that perhaps the Sugar Bowl folks wanted to insure that LSU wouldn't have to contend with a split title with Hawaii if they ended up winning. See how silly that seems? Regardless of where he's from JM is exciting to watch but dang, #1 for Illinois flat out ran his azz down.......not even the guys with the angle could do it.
A tOSU vs USC rematch in the rose next season is what I want to see. Oklahoma/Mizzou vs USC would have been ideal IMO. (Not sure on the rules or anything.. it would have been a better matchup for all teams.)
