I am not above rooting for my most hated rival if it means it will help LSU. (See me rooting for Notre Dame against USC and FSU this year) My hatred does not override my common sense
Well good, I just wanted to see. Because it seems that you do have a few fans whos hate might outweigh thier common sense. WAR DAMN EAGLE!!
It amazes me that so many LSU fans are looking past... Alabama who beat LSU 30-0 last year. Ole Miss, who can win the SEC West outright by winning one game with two weeks of preparation. While LSU has a better team, is this not the most important game for the Rebels in about two decades or so? Arkansas, who beat LSU out last year for the trip to Atlanta. Looks to me like LSU has a tougher road to go down than either Tennessee or Georgia have to make it to the SEC CG.
The road may be tougher, but what seperates us from you is that we are in control. UGA and UT are not (though its looking as if UGA will benifit from the new rule). We are looking past last years results becuase it is no longer last year. We are a very different team this year, and we still have our QB. We couldnt say that at this time last year.
The new rule surprised me. I can't imagine the Florida AD going along with it unless he is under pressure to boot Zook and this would make it easier. Florida now has to have Tennessee lose a game for any chance at all. Voting would have allowed Florida a chance even if all three teams had won out. LSU is clearly the best team in the West, but we all know that intangibles can turn momentum around in a hurry. One or two key injuries can change the course of any game. But in any event, the two teams that do make it to the SEC CG are going to have to earn the right to be there.
This is just speculation, but does anyone else see an absolute reversal in roles from 2001 should LSU vs Tennessee be the SECCG? I know this is "looking ahead", but I honestly don't see Saban allowing another letdown this year. All of the remaining games are HUGE, and ol' St. Nick is a HUGE game coach.
