"Somewhere a broom is drearily sweeping up the broken pieces of yesterday's life...Somewhere a queen is weeping...Somewhere a king has no wife." This gets my vote as the greatest rock lyrics. Second place: "There's a killer on the road. His brain is squirming like a toad." What you say Hatcher? ...(while someone else is trying to remember X.)
I'm thinking this might just deserve its own thread. There is so much out there I would probaly go insane trying to figure out "greatest". Need to ruminate a bit on that. How about some "interesting" lyrics like the introduction to Def Leppard's Rock of Ages: "Gunter glieben glauchen globen". Kind of like Eddie Murphy asking "What the f! does gooney goo goo mean Gus?" Here's another from Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit: "And I forget just why I taste Oh yeah, I guess it makes me smile I found it hard, it was hard to find Oh, well, whatever, nevermind" I've often wondered if thats where the name of the album, Nevermind, came from. Lots of interesting things buried in lyrics. In the meantime W - White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
Have you heard the Blue Man Group cover? I like it... can't find a video on YouTube though. Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam
