...but here's the real version: In 1968, I was in eighth grade and was a banner boy for Pete Fountains "half fast" walking club on Mardi Gras day. I got the job because of a Jesuit priest (Fr. Coco) and Jazz Clarinetist, who was friends with my family. In those days they marched through the French Quarter, and the march was a blur because I was on cloud nine! I didn't know where I was because I was so excited. Somewhere in the Quarter I heard this song coming from a stereo up on one of the balconies. I looked up and saw twenty or so naked hippies (girls and boys) dancing to this song as it blared out loudly. I'll never forget the first time I heard this song....EVER !! It was the "highest" I've ever been in my life without being under the influence of anything. Every time I hear this song, you can't wipe the smile off my face.
