New avatar !!!! See I do have a clue !!! I don't buy all the jumping to conclusions that Rivers and Randall are busts. I was joking before, but if we really haven't been able to recruit and develop a quarterback in 8 years....and we have to grasp at straws and hope for the best. Maybe Miles has to go too.
Funny avatar! First, it hasn't been 8 years and although I'm not a Jimbo Fisher fan, Matt Flynn clearly developed well and was ready to start his SR year. Also, I don't blame Kragthorpe for "the lost QB years" under Gary Crowton. Kragthorpe has only been at LSU for 1 season, and he didn't sign off on Jefferson and Jarrett Lee being signed obviously. I do think he would have signed off on Zach Lee being signed. Anyway, with Liggins not making it qualifications wise, we haven't seen a QB that Kragthorpe really recruited sign with LSU yet. I'm not calling Rivers and Randall busts but if they can't handle a backup situation being RS FR, then yeah, bust might be whispered anyway. I just like to have more than 3 QBs on scholarship. Reminds me of my TE complaint. What other team in college football has 3 QBs on scholarship and 5 TEs!
My manager changes my avatar. I just don't really buy into the theory that Rivers and Randall are not going to be decent back up QBs. We have commitments for two good QBs this year too. If we have the room, why not?
I think this is Miles and the coaching staff over-compensating because of the past. This guy is Andrew Hatch 2.0
Correct me if I'm wrong, if we get this Penn State guy, have two QB's coming in next year, possibly 3 if Liggins learns to read and write, we already have 2, and if Mett plays 2 years would we really hold 7 QB's on the team next year? Seems like alot, have we ever had that many before? Mett Rivers Liggins Randall Bolden Kid From Georgia White Kid from CA
Not crazy about this idea either. As TigerChick points out we have a lot of QB's in the pipeline. So LaSalle may have a very good point about overcompensating.
I definitely don't understand this but I'll trust the coaches. My biggest concern about this is that it seems a position that I thought we had a lot of depth in may be lacking in talent. That's news to me and not good news.
It seems like LSU hasn't been able to recruit and develop a QB since Miles got here....If the armchair scouts are correct that Rivers and Randle are not dependable as backups. Perriloux counts as a total bust because of character issues. Mauck was the last "servicible QB we had. Personally, I am a sunshine pumping Miles fan...and I think Rivers and Randle are going to be fine. But think about it. If we REALLY don't have QBs good enough to eventually start, Something is terribly wrong here. If this guy comes in and keeps Rivers and Randle from ever getting game experience this really becomes a problem. Nothing against the PSU kid at all though. If he's good enough to supplant Randle and Rivers...good for him. But if Randle and Rivers are busts......watch out Kragthorpe and Miles !!
