    Auburn was in a couple polls :grin: ...until they got shut out in their first home game...then scored 3 points in their next loss.

    The value in being ranked high at the start of the season is that you don't have to count on someone else to lose to get to the big game. You control your own destiny from the git go. In 2005, USC and TX started #1 and 2, and finished that way. The sportswriters weren't so dumb that year, they had it right all year long.

    Expecting to go undefeated is just setting yourself up for disappointment. I hope we do, but I'm not counting on it. It's too tough in this day and age.
