Okay grasshopper, here are a few recommendations (for food, I'm sure you know what bevs to provide, including but not limited to Abita Turbodogs !) for a 4 to 6 person tailegate: 1. Gotta have Zapp's Crawtators. After that various chips and dips work well. Don't try guacamole unless it will be eaten at once. Peanuts and beer go hand in so have some of those. Sunflower seeds are fun to have around while sipping on a beer as well. 2. Tray of mixed veggies with Ranch dressing to dip in. If you have time, cut off the top quarter of a head of red cabbage. Scoop out the inside and serve the dip in the cavity of the cabbage. My wife does this and it looks cool. Also need a tray of fruits, the kind you pick from a tree and or vine ! 3. Now that the nibbling is done lets get to the real food. Chicken breasts or thighs wrapped in bacon. You can pan fry or grill these. Serve with different kinds of mustard to dip in. Brats. Boil them in onions the night before. Reserve the onions and bring to the tailgate. Brown the brats on grill or skillet and the onions as well. Serve on a hotdog bun with various mustards and cheeses and of course, the onions. B/w these two all should have a full belly. 4. Cold pasta salad seasoned with McCormick's Salad Supreme: http://www.mccormick.com/productdetail.cfm?id=6390 Follow the instructions on the package. I use the tri-colored pasta. You can dress it up with just about anyting like olives, artichoke hearts, chopped ham, boiled shrimp you name it. Bring it to the tailgate in a zip-loc bag and keep it in an ice chest until its ready to be served. I like it ice cold when I have it. Have fun. Anyone complain about what you serve, tell they host the next one.

HAVE A BLAST!!! I am jealous but have a good time anyway! At least I will be with some fellow LSU fans this weekend in Daytona to watch the game!!!
So other then the fact that you COULD not have been at that game and not had a BLAST (unless youwere a Hokie:grin: ), how did the tailgate geaux? Give us some storys!!!
The tailgate went really well. We got there and set up by 11 and had a great day. We had a great spread and had a lot of visitors. I discovered a couple of things 1. We need a generator (small one, not the huge loud things). We could only watch tv for 30 min because we didnt have enough power. 2. Purple frosting and yellow sprinkles melts to a scary browinish mess in 90deg weather. I'll try it again for the Arkansas game. 3. I really wish we'd have brought a grill. BBQ fumes are intoxicating and I wanted some chicken. After awhile we began to play Traffic (drinking game where you pick things that if they pass by you drink to them) drank to VTech fans, guys in jorts, guys in tank tops, underage kids sneaking beer while walking around, non affiliated people (that rare breed of human who comes to a game not decked out in school colors), and mullets. I thought that there would be a limited amout of jorts- sad to report I was sadly mistaken. One guy passed by in a tank top, jorts and a mullet- our friend was like "guys, this is why we train in the offseason". Met some great Hokie fans. I was so proud of my fellow LSU fan for how hospitable everyone was. I didnt hear a single complaint from any VTech fans- one guy said he wanted to transfer for a sememster! Thanks for all the help!
