I'm not shocked. I'd be shocked if this was Anthony Jennings or Duke Riley, both of whom were highly praised for their character by their high school coaches. As for RJ, he looks thuggish in his pics (but a lot of college football players do) and he sounds like a "gangsta" on his twitter (but a lot of college players do), so I'm not surprised he got arrested like numerous players do every year in every college football program. I still think you were nuts to start attacking this kid back when we started recruiting him for no other reason that he was JJ's brother, though. And speaking of RJ's twitter, he tweeted this a few hours ago: SLICK RICK @Self_Made8_ 3h Please don't judge me! Well, RJ, what do you expect?
All I said was apples don't fall far from the tree. I must be one of those clear vignettes or something. Should play more lotto. Dollars to doughnuts he is up close and personal with brpd a couple more times before its all said and done.
Interestingly, this is the same trouble superstar Oregon CB Cliff Harris got into in high school, both of them were arrested for physically trying to prevent a law enforcement officer from arresting their friend. Harris, who was a US Army All American and one of the top rated CB recruits in the country, started for Oregon the next year as a true freshman (2009) and then had a sensational season as a sophomore in 2010, becoming just the fourth consensus All-American in school history (Oregon went 12-1 that year, finished #3 in both polls, and had the #12 scoring D). Then, in June 2011 he was arrested driving 118 mph in a car owned by an Oregon staff member and was suspended for the LSU game. Then, on Oct. 24 2011, he was cited for driving on a suspended license, without proper insurance and without a seatbelt. Although he provided proof of insurance on the car he and the charge was eventually dismissed, he was suspended the last five games of the regular season and the Pac-12 championship game. Then he was kicked off the team after it was reported that on Nov. 25, 2011 he had been cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. On April 26-28, 2012, he was not drafted in 2012 NFL Draft, although on April 29, 2012 he was signed by the Eagles, and in Jan 2013, he was signed by the Jets But on the other hand, you have a guy like Cam Newton, who was kicked off Florida's team for theft of a laptop computer from another University of Florida student and tossed the computer out his dorm when the cops arrived...and he's kept his nose clean since then as for RJ, here are a few more of his recent tweets: SLICK RICK @Self_Made8_ 4h People's opinions ...we don't listen to those unless we ask for it SLICK RICK @Self_Made8_ 4h Can't wait to touch down in BR for good... SLICK RICK @Self_Made8_ 4h Keep ya head up cuz them haters love to see you down !
Link? If you punch an officer multiple times, you get taken to jail and your mug shot taken (have you seen any mug shot of RJ?). It appears all they did to RJ was write him a ticket, same thing that happens when you get caught speeding From the Advocate: "Jefferson, 209 Riverwood, St. Rose, was given a misdemeanor summons for resisting an officer, battery on a police officer and interfering with a law enforcement investigation, according to records filed in the 24th Judicial District in Jefferson Parish. ... Jefferson has a March 27 hearing scheduled to address his summons, records show." Per the Advocate, RJ's friend (the one shouting the profanities), did try to punch the officer multiple times, and he was taken to jail: "Sampson was given a $3,500 bail for the resisting by violence count, court records show. ... Collins tried to place Sampson in handcuffs, but Sampson then tried to punch the detective's face and torso, the affidavit says. ... Collins then tackled Sampson, who continued to punch the detective in the torso before being placed in handcuffs, the affidavit says." compare to what happened to superstar Oregon CB Cliff Harris: "He was booked into the Fresno County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000 for the felony count and $10,000 for a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a public officer."
I was arrested for resisting arrest and battery on a police officer in 2005. Wondering what I did to get such a charge(probably not, but bear w/ me)? I am still wondering to this day as well. Charges were dropped, btw. Cops blow sh@t outta proportion all the time. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail and some of these charges will be reduced or dropped. The truth is usually somewhere b/t what the cop and the alleged perpetrator says...
