all those are true, and dont forget: 1A. the only real long term solution to the world's problems is that humans accept reality as it is, and use their brains rather than their imaginations to solve problems. of all the issues on our collective plate for dialogue, i think this one is most overlooked relative to its importance. i think too many people just dont pay attention and they accept obvious fabrications as the gospel truth. there are people who are thoroughly brainwashed, and they might be lost causes, but there are also people who think, who just havent thought about this enough, and have just put it aside and accepted whatever the wisdom of the time tells them, because it doesnt matter much to them. i think those people should reconsider.
that has actually happened plenty of times. i think you need to dig deeper into your research into evolution. i hear that, yo. the gods that are described by most religions are generally horrible fellas. only in the most vague sense of the word god is the idea even slightly non-adbsurd. when religions start ascribing characteristics to their creator, thats then when the problems start.
A. Einstein: Imagination is more important than knowledge. B.A.T.: Einstein is/was smarter than martin.
i dont keep track of what you say, but i have to guess that has to be among the stupidest things you have come up with. in fact, i think that last post was a great example of how to say nothing while misinterpreting someone else for the purpose of making yourself useless. you know what i meant. when you dont know the answer to a question (for example, where did the universe come from?) you do not just invent an imaginary answer like "an invisible superperson did it". you observe reality, not your myths and fantasies.
Martin, Let's put the whole of the Bible aside for a minute and focus on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Like you, I too am only interested in the truth. For now, tell me one example of where you think Jesus didn't tell the truth.
you have to consider that were not brought up the way you were, you would realize what a totally absurd question that is. the stories of jesus are folklore, like paul bunyan. he may or may not have existed. there were then (and are now) many people who claim to be the son of god. the bible could have easily been about some other guy who happened to be the subject of the legend. it just happened to be about this one fella. when did he not tell the truth? cmon be serious. he fed the multitudes with a couple fish and a loaf of bread or two. he rose from the dead. cmon man, it is just a legend, it is folklore. be serious for a second. asking me that is like asking me when hercules exaggerated his strength. these stories, they are just myths, folklore for primitive people. uh-huh. keep in mind by "truth" i mean actual reality, the kind of thing that is observed and real, not the sort of unverifiable myth that is only considered true because you cant prove it isnt. that is a waste of everyone's time, because there is a infinite amount of stuff that cant be proven not true. the signal to noise ratio with that as the standard makes "truth" useless. you can say jesus is real, but i can find another guy who says allah told him that muhammad is the only worthy prophet, as we can argue about it, but it pointless because both of you are talking about faith. so like i have said before, these discussions will always boil down to you having faith and me being reasonable. i do not see how you cannot understand that if faith is all you need, you might as well believe in anything. and by anything, i mean LITERALLY anything. i can say god is a tuna sandwich you ate last week, and i am exactly as credible as you. or the spaghetti monster. and who are you to tell me i wasnt touched by his noodly appendage? nobody. you cant tell me what happened to me or didnt, or what i imagined or i didnt. but just because people are liars and delusional and love to pass along legends, that doesnt make any of it true.
sigh You assume far too much young padawan. First you arrogantly assume to know my theology and religious background and second you failed to address the truth of the teachings of Christ. You only addressed the stories about him and not his actual words. I was prepared to discuss your questions from a direct observation and scientific point of view. I have a background in astronomy and I was going to share with you my conclusions of what I have observed in the heavens and from life and experience. I was not going to approach you with a sermon as you assumed given your knee jerk reaction to a simple question. I may talk a lot of crapola in these forums but it's all in fun as the men and women that are members here realize. In the other forums here it's just a night at the pub with me mates. I do try though to keep it serious in the Free Speech forum. You are obviously not interested in the truth and I wish you the best of luck in your climb of the mountain of life, perhaps Richard Dawkins will offer to be your guide as you appear to think he has all the answers. May the force be with you.
my mistake... nevermind no mistake on my part. all we have is stories about what he supposedly said. let me guess, by "truth" you mean what jesus says? again, i am not the one with a whole system of crazy mythology to explain everything, i dont know who or what created the universe, i listen to what scientists tell me they have observed or havent observed, and they might be right or wrong. if they do not know something, i dont fill in the blanks with whatever makes me happy. i hate this attutide people have with atheists, the sort of "oh you know everything huh? you know better than everyone else eh! arent you mr know-it-all!" that is the opposite of what is happening. it is the religious people who are the ones producing all the lies and fake answers and BS. the atheist is the one who concedes ignorance about the big questions. you religious people are the ones who that that jesus is the way the truth and the life and he god is the answer. you are the ones who are the ones who are the too smart for reality, the ones who have everything figured out. because i do not have all the answers, it doesnt mean i should believe yours. or any other crazy superstition.
