Kiki what neither you or Rex understand is that positions are derived from principles not doctrine. Only by letting a strong set of principles be your guide can you navigate the tides of partisanship and hold to a course that is true. Being in the middle or right or left is meaningless and only a position that is relative to the trends of time.
I have been, am and will always will be guided by the principles laid down by Locke & Madison and as put forth by the Constitution and Federalist Papers.
    1) I believe in a representative government where power is shared so each checks the other. I believe that there is a place for states to exercise rights and both federal and state government should be limited and the individual is protected. Remember NONE of the rights listed in the first 10 amendments are absolute.
    2) I believe that ALL people are created equal should be accorded the same rights and treated equally.
    3) I believe government is there to serve the people not the other way around.
    4) I strongly believe in a free market both nationally and internationally though it needs regulation. Free market capitalism is the best possible means of prosperity for all as has been proven. As even Adam Smith admitted markets and people need to be regulated to prevent the strong from smothering the weak.
    5) I believe in the ultimate genius of people and that given the chance we will overcome any challenge.

I could go on and on but you get my point. However I recognize that the fledgling US of 1789 is radically different in every way than today. Our population has changed so we're not a Northern European enclave but truly diverse. That is a great thing. We are better for our immigrants including those coming today. I recognize while we were and still are a nation of Christians we ARE NOT a Christian nation. It's the foundation of our country that there be no state religion. Yes much of what formed us is due to Christianity and that needs to be celebrated.
We are no longer a rural agricultural society but increasingly urban and highly industrialized.....a technological society.
When you read my opinions please take the above into account. There are positions we agree on and others we disagree about. Never for a moment think I'm shooting for a happy medium. No I have come to a different position because of the truly conservative principles I hold to.

Just looking for a consistent position from you. Its your absolute hatred of Trump that puzzles me. You say you hold to conservative principles yet you despise Trump. Everything he is getting done and trying to do is conservative.

If you buy your own insurance, that is. Or if you get insurance from your employer.

You see, one Orange Shitgibbon, whose biggest motivation in life is to tear down anything positive Barack Obama has ever done, meaning he has a special obsession against something called "Obamacare", publicly announced that the Feds would no longer pay the cost sharing reduction reimbursements to insurance companies prescribed by the ACA.

Now, you might think, hooray! Those low life poor people who otherwise couldn't afford their own healthcare will no longer be subsidized. Screw them.

But it doesn't work that way.

You see, those subsidized people will still get their health insurance at those highly subsidized rates.... because that's what the ACA requires insurance companies to do. But, guess what? Insurance companies are in this game for PROFITS, and if they can't get reimbursed for giving away insurance for free to poor people well who do you think they're going to make that up from? Here's a hint: it's YOU, you dumb Trumplodyte. Your own rates will soar.

The GOP had every opportunity to come up with a reasonable replacement for Obamacare. They failed. Why? Because they CAN'T think of ANYTHING better. So, from just pure spite, an Orange Buffoon is determined to blow up the system, regardless of what it does to YOU. Congratulations, you've earned it.

And guess which states are going to get hit the hardest? That's right.... the 19 reddest states... the states that voted hardest for an Orange Pervert Buffoon. Why? Because those states did not expand Medicaid under the ACA, meaning that more low income people had to opt for Obamacare subsidies. In Idaho, for example, average insurance rates are going to spike 44%.

Now, of course, Republicans are going to blame Obamacare for any price increases.... but this WILL NOT BE Obamacare. This is SABOTAGED Obamacare. This will be Trump's perversion. Insurance companies started jacking their rates even before today's announcement because they already anticipated that a spiteful orange manbaby would likely end the reimbursements.

And, you really need to keep asking yourself this question: if Obamacare was so goddamned awful, then WHY COULDN'T THE GOP COME UP WITH ANYTHING BETTER?

I gather by your cavalier response that you're a bum getting your health insurance for free.

edit: I shouldn't have used the word "cavalier". Too educated for some people.

Look, I agree with much of what you say, most of it too obvious to have wasted all that space in such boring fashion, but when you assert that "Unfortunately the democrats are no better and perhaps even worse" than Trump and his GOP enablers you just make yourself look like a silly, unobservant, incognitive hack.

And, for the record, I understand much more than you're capable of.
