Not sure I understand...the US Virgin islands have the same status as Puerto Rico and their citizens are Americans. Trump is their president. But it doesn't seem he knew that.

The ACA is flawed...I believe. It was a partial sellout to the insurance industry. It is too expensive and hurts families. The health insurance industry made it expensive. And the repubs only answer was to gut it and replace it with nothing. That's what industry wanted. But they failed because too many people would have nothing. Too many people are "uninsurable". Now Trump is personally trying to destroy it. And replace it with nothing...probably so that he can finally claim to have accomplished something.
People used to pay for medical care out of pocket...as they needed it. Insurance was for catastrophic coverage. The insurance companies then increased profits by denying claims. The cost of hospital and doctor care skyrocketed as prices rose to cover losses. Now, everyone needs insurance for regular treatment. The insurance companies have what they aptly call tremendous penetration in the marketplace. Guess who's being penetrated and where.
The poor and uninsured are just gonna go to the emergency room now....driving up the cost of treatment. Screw the health insurance industry....back...because they've been screwing you.
