The plan initially was to move Barrow over to MLB. Barrow is more stout for one. Welter is way too light to be playing MLB in the first place. Then you could play Beckwith at OLB opposite Alexander, if you're not comfortable with Beckwith's inexperience to play the all important MLB position. How would you folks like that lineup? Welter has already cost us the Georgia game with his poor quarterbacking of the defense, are we going to wait til it blows up in our face vs Alabama and A&M?
Yes Stacey, he is. You can see it on TV, too. He's waving people into position and making the defensive calls. Don't take my word for it, both Les and Chavis have said so. Cue Issletissle to tell us how stupid Les and Chief are.
Welter waved all his players in the proper position during the Georgia game. To the tune of a 44-41 loss. I don't care if Welter's IQ is over 150, physically and athletically he is a division II type player. Intangibles such as toughness and instincts, he is even worse than division II.
Welter is a liability on D no doubt, but Chief isn't playing him just to piss you off. He obviously thinks he is the best option available at this time. I'll be happy when someone better steps up, but it hasn't happened yet or you would see that someone starting.
Barrow is the hammer and Welter isn't the nail but the hand swinging it. Only problem is he hits his own thumb every now and then. Welter has gotten better in my opinion, I just hope he continues to do so.
IDK, can we put thicker padding on Welter & tell him to go out & HIT someone--tackle face to face--and that it won't hurt?
Why dont you go to TJ Ribs and ask Miles? Im sure he has an answer and if not you can tell him what he needs to do. I dont trust Miles running the offense, but I trust Chavis to evaluate his defensive players.
I don't think Welter is a Minter .. but I'll have to disagree with this statement above. Welter can't make Loss-a-ton play his position. Heck, on one of the TD's at GA, all Lost-one had to do was turn the frick around and intercept the ball. Add to that ... Beckam's fumble was pretty instrumental in that loss. I don't think Welter is the worst MLB in the automatic BCS qualifiers, not the best either, but certainly not the worst. .... but as I said .. he does seem timid. Needs to do less thinking about it, and more doing ... like maybe he needs to go the Home Depot.
