The part that really bugs me about this is that I think it would be great for race relations in America if we had a black president. Now this whole situation has essentially put a hex on it. I don't want a president that even half-heartedly subscribes to Wright's idealogy.

If you believe this will destroy his campaign you misjudge his support and political savvy. I am not an Obama supporter by any stretch of the imagination, but he did a good job of dealing with the issue today. Basically what he did in today's speech was lance an infection that had been growing. He aired it all out and laid it all out on the table. Generally, this is the smart approach and should bring him some politcial dividends. We should know the impact of his speech on his campaign in a week or two. But it was a smart move on his part.

Parso, I dont think you are racist at all, I think you are a very smart and insightful young man. We come from different worlds, we dont understand everything about each other. But I dont think you are a racist, just because we differ on some issues. I enjoy your post and your expertise on many subjects. You are alright with me. Comments and differences we have had in the past are just that, you have showed the ability to get past mere words of mine and I have done the same with yours. You are good with me. Keep up the good work.:thumb:

My take, the rev's not running for pres. Do you agree with everything your pastor says? Do you leave if not? I don't think this is a big deal.

Obama's speech yesterday was a political act not a courageous one. He wouldn't have made the speech if his 20 year relationship with Rev. Wright had not been exposed. Interesting how Wright retired just before all of this went public.

Guys, I'm gonna say this again...I have no problem with voting for anyone for President regardless of their color. Its the person and where they stand on the issues for me. Not the party. Heres the problems I have with this man...

*I find it "suspicious" that he converts from being Muslim to "Christian"...before he runs for office. Now maybe if he came out and said in so many words something to the affect "My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"...etc, etc. I might believe he's sincere. This probably won't happen.

*I know what his pastor said was supposedly "not" Obama's views, then if not, why not say something about it before now??? He had to have known that sooner or later all this stuff was gonna come out, or were the people in charge of his campaign "that" inept?" (Frankly it smacks of an attempt to cover it up).

*I am not a liberal by any means...and quite frankly, I won't vote for one.

*If you haven't noticed lately, the talking heads on TV can't get enough of him. You can't turn the tube on without the press painting his picture all over the place. If he's "this" much of a media darling, I "definitely" won't vote him (or anyone the press loves that much)...it won't be good for the country.

*Liberals tend to be "elitists" (you can't drive your SUV because its bas for the environment...but I can drive mine, because your stupid and I know whats best for you).

Those are a few of my "overall" reasons...these have nothing to do with his skin color.

Bottom line is this...(in my opinion) All the things that are "uncomfortable" for him are gonna start falling out of the sky...(as it does with all politicians sooner or later). If he has any more "issues" that come forth, its gonna get tougher and tougher for him closer we get to election time. (Thats assuming "Billary" doesn't get the nomination.)

When was he ever a Muslim, he has never said the he practiced Islam, so your credibility is shot in your opening statement,, which leads me to believe in the rest of your post you dont know what you are talking about.

Bottom line is you are posting false things.

now if you want to post a fact or something that is at least halfway true, then we can have a debate and discuss it. Otherwise, try to get your facts straight.

My problems with Obama is that he is a liberal, to the left of Ted Kennedy. He views government as the solution, I view government more as the problem. That is the bottom line for me.
