I think Randle has the ability to be all-world as a freshman, but LSU doesn't need him to as badly as Bama or Georgia needed those two guys to produce.

LaFell and Toliver give us two other great options in the passing game, insuring that getting the ball to our phenom freshman won't be as high on our priorities list as it was for those two teams last season.

UGA already had a proven WR in Massaqua. Agree about Bama. IMHO, we have exactly the same scenario in this department as UGA did last season...one proven WR...and that is Lafell. It's fine to assume TT is gonna have a break out year...but that's all it is...an assumption. He is not a proven commodity...although I do think he's capable. I just happen to think RR is more capable...just absolutely naturally gifted...moreso than TT. He isn't going to overtake Jojo, but I do believe he'll be the number 2 guy this year, and number one next year.

***AGAIN*** I don't mean this to insult TT. I think he would probably be a #1 in 75% of D1 programs. Just not this one.

I knew someone was gonna try to bring up MoMass. He's solid but nowhere near as good as LaFell, and there's no way that offense was gonna work without another guy opposite him to stretch the field. Massaquoi is a great underneath and intermediate receiver but if that is all you have in your WR corps your passing game is gonna struggle. They needed a big year from AJ Green and that's exactly what they got.

We don't need RR to do anything spectacular, but anything he does do is a bonus. And I'd prefer to rely on Toliver, a 3rd year guy who you call unproven over a first year guy who is really unproven. TT was a 5 star recruit once upon a time too. He was very reliable from the Troy game on last year, once he finally got some decent looks.

I think he's gonna have a breakout year, and Randle will be asked to supplement our top two in an '06 Early Doucet type role.

Lafell is set for an awesome season. TT may find his place. Dickson is a stud. All the RBs can catch.

I agree Randle has the tools. Question is does he have the opportunity for a breakout frosh year?

He may not need to see the field as much as we'd like b/ c the Tigers have a great WR lineup.

Miles is a loyalist. RR will get plenty of chances though. He has to.

    gotcha

I agree. It will be really annoying if Randle sees very little of the field as a true freshman. And his dad won't be very happy and we'll probably have to hear about it at some point in the season.

We shall see...and I NEVER said Massaquoi was as good as Lafell. I think Lafell is top 2 in the country. I just said Massaquoi was a proven player...and he was. You're right that they didn't have 2 guys. Bama had basically 0 before JJ. LSU, IMHO, has one proven commodity at WR. I really think Randle will surpass TT...and there is NOTHING to factually disprove my opinion. That said, I have nothing to factually disprove yours, so like I said...we shall see.

If you are a potential pro prospect why in the world would you want to be on the field for every play for 4 years. If you have no plans to play past college than that is a different story.

I love it when I read some stupid HS RB kid saying how they want to come in and start right away. I guess you can go to the knee store and order a new pair after season 3 in the SEC.

LaFell and TT should be 1 and 2 just based on knowing the offense, if RR shows he knows the offense and can produce nothing wrong with easing him in. LSU needs 4-5 WRs, just like they need 3-4 RBs... he will get on the field when he is ready. There are plenty of carries, catches and touches to go around in LSU's offense.

Actually, the two best should be 1 and 2. If RR has to show HE knows the offense, so does TT. In his 2 years of limited playing time...he has NOT shown that. THAT is why I think RR will surpass him.
    -
So many people this year have talked about how much TT has improved physically. I never thought physical was TTs problem. He just has to learn to run the right routes at the right time. He has not shown that so far.
    -
And it seems as if you're assuming RR wants to play every play for 4 years. What makes you think he'll be here for 4 years? I hope he is...but I wouldn't count on it.

I like TT a lot, and I hope he can play and contribute greatly.

We have room for Lafell, TT and RR all on the field at exactly the same time.

Not sure what the hell defensive coordinators are going to do.

    That's not my problem.
