I think we all do. After all, Slow and Steady wins the race...which is exactly what LSU did with him! Back on topic...I've said from the first time I saw him play that I think TT is the next Bowe. He just seems to play with the physical toughness that Bowe did so well. There's a lot more to being a receiver than running, leaping, or cutting. Especially in the SEC, receivers need to be big, physical players that can block, shake tackles, catch while taking a brutal hit, and deliver a blow or two themselves (I'll never forget JoJo taking off that dude's head throwing a block for Flynn).
Okay now, there aren't a "helluva lot of receivers" who weren't fast AND didn't run great routes. No doubt there are some but guys lacking speed usually make up for it in route running. Jerry Rice wasn't super fast, but his routes were impeccable. Perfect example of a possession guy who can also hit a homerun. I don't necessarily think those measurables don't matter either. They matter because without some semblance of those measurables even those legends couldn't get the attention to be given the opportunity. But I agree with you for the most part. Just not ready to go to the extreme with it.
Well with that said, neither of the two guys being discussed have proven much, if anything. I think we'll like the physicality of both guys. Both over 6'3 and over 200 lbs. and strong! This is a great problem for !
if he is the next DBowe then we have a gem. DBowe did so much more than just catch passes, he was the best run blocking and screen blocking wide receiver i have ever seen at the collegiate level, Michael Clayton was pretty close, but i don't think he was as good as DBowe in that area.
Again, a great problem! Neither of em are junk regardless of how we as fans feel about who is or will be better. It's just a friendly debate.
I am very sold on him as a player. I am not sold on Les Miles playing a true freshman in the opener significantly -- something he's pretty much never, ever done -- especially when there are a few experienced players at the same position.
Randle will get 3-4 receptions against Washington IMO. 57 yds and a TD. I expect to see him get plenty of touches leading up to UGA though, we have to know if we can count on him in the game and not just practice.
LOL...57 yards, huh? That seems pretty specific. How many feet? :hihi: Seriously though, you're expecting something like 20 yards per reception? If this were still Jimbo's offense then I'd say maybe that's possible but Crowton likes the 5-7 yarders more than anything downfield...especially with the slot receivers (as he's expected to be). I'd be shocked and amazed, but also delighted. Of course, it IS Washington, so I can see good YAC numbers in this one if the team is gelling.
