They ain't getting rich from me. I've read the aquifer maps and I know that the Baton Rouge tap water is pumped from the same aquifer that Kentwood water is. Finest kind. :thumb:

Now . . . if I lived in New Orleans where they pump tap water from the Mississippi River, the sewer of the continent, then I'd be a Kentwood man for sure!

As a matter of fact, I don't know how it is in Louisiana, but in Texas, when children come to our ED and suspected child abuse is the reason for the child being admitted, parents smoking indoors is part of their questionaire, it is also part of the National Asthma protocol guidelines and a trigger for asthma in children, and the children are usually followed up on to see if parents are still smoking indoors following 2 ED visits per year for asthma related symptoms then CPS will follow the family to ensure that smoking is no longer conducted indoors with children present.

your right, Mcdonalds though has been smoke free for years, and guess who proposed the ban, the major stockholders during their annual stockholder meeting following a national pettition requesting that smoking no longer be permitted within the building. Within a year most other fastfood chains followed suit.

And yes, being publicallly traded can entitle you to numerous federal benefits, being in compliance with some federal statutes means not paying heavy fines and or getting a rebate or tax incentive for following that statute.

btw, Mcdonalds gets all kinds of tax incentives and breaks, it would blow your mind.

As did the majority of private businesses over the past decade, either smoke-free or separate areas. They did so without any help from government. Go figure...

lol ... a federal benefit is having to be "in compliance" with some statue? Remind me not to get that particular benefit.:hihi:

We all have government rules and regulations to follow, both in business and at home. Should those who have FHA or VA mortgage loans be subjected to more government intrusion as a result?

So do you and I. We get all sorts of individual tax incentives and breaks. But taking advantage of those shouldn't subject me to more government.

Yes, but the continued use of the word 'ostentatious' is, well, ostentatious.

Funny you should bring that up. I lived in NOLA in the 70s and the "River water causes cancer" hype was at it's peak. Suddenly everybody and his brother were buying Kentwood dispensers and the bottled water craze was off and running. My wife wanted to join the lemmings but my attitude was if the water is killing people we'd be tripping over bodies on the street. I drank it for 7 years and I'm still here and still healthy. My dog died, but he was 119 in dog years.

Maybe the whiny titty babies on this thread should go see Superman and then cry themselves to sleep that a superhero isn't American anymore. Smoke free!! Yippee! Just try not to get hit by a bus or have an enlarged heart on the way.

The arguement is not about if it's right or wrong to smoke in public. I agree it is rude to light up in a restaurant, which is why I don't smoke when I go out to eat. I have a problem with the government making decisions for us. If cigarettes were outlawed completely, that would be a different story. Now they're telling me where I can and can't poison myself. I have a problem with that.

OK, so if it is vicious circle, then some compromises must be made. What do you suggest?
