when someone comes over to watch a game and asks, "mind if i smoke?" i reply, "mind if i fart?" and that usually ends the discussion....

Clearly annoying, perhaps, but clearly unhealthy? No.

And by the same logic, since you belong to the group that is having their priveleges limited (not taken away), you're unhappy. It's irrelevant. Trust me, I'm not ignoring anything about a choice. Maybe you didn't notice but martin only repeated it in every post. I have a choice not to go to a place just as you do. But your choice has been characterized as a health risk to others, mine hasn't.
Sounds like you have an allergy. Similar things happen to me. I'll mail you the petition.:D

I used to be allergic to a lot of things, especially fresh-cut grass and cigarette smoke. Then, as I got older, I grew a pair and got over it. :hihi:

even if i concede that secondhand smoke is unhealthy to an extent anyone should care about, the difference between smoke and these other unhealthy things in a restaurant is you can easily see/smell smoke and leave, and you dont get suprised by it. contaminated food will sting you out of nowhere and you had no idea.

i used to have a pair and i didnt give a damn about anything, but out of nowhere at the end of last summer allergies hit me like a ton of brincks and now for no reason i get destroyed midsummer. i am experimenting with medicines. i dont get it, i used to be a man, but now i am a pussy. sucks.

now we are on to something.

I already stated that I DO NOT smoke in restaurants. I like knowing that If I choose to I can. My arguement all along is that it should be up to the business owners, the group I do not belong to. I don't like the government making decisions for private citizens. If a building is owned and operated by the government, and they choose not to allow smoking, so be it. But telling a guy who owns a restaurant that people can't smoke there is no different than them saying people can't smoke at home. The government is making decisions for us, and the more we sit back and allow it, the worse it will become.

Man, when the Feds made cocaine illegal, that was the last straw.

It's completely different. The general public is not allowed ingress and egress to your home, nor is that essential for you to pay the note on your home. I've made that point several times.
That's a little dramatic. The government is trying to limit the effect that certain people have on the health of others. Further, if what 00Tiger said is indeed true, then the private property rights issue becomes a much tougher hill to climb.
