On this type of subject, I think the only two reasons it becomes the government's and my business if someone smokes (or over-eats, drinks too much etc.) is because:

    A. the government is paying for about 50% of the healthcare costs in this country.

    B. Because other people refuse to take better care of themselves, the end result is I have crappier, more expensive insurance.

My solution, the government shouldn't ban this stuff, what they should do on this one is say we aren't going to provide any public money for medical care for illnesses proven to be a result of smoking, over-eating, alcoholism etc. The government should also say, "employer, you don't have to offer coverage for people you know indulge in these activities either. Or, you have the freedom to charge them out the butt for coverage, while keeping your health conscience employees' premiums much lower. Finally, the government should step aside and say, "insurance company, you have the right to refuse coverage for these people."

Of course these such activities would have to be carefully defined to prevent employers and insurance companies from using loopholes and screwing people over. To sum up my opinion, anyone in this country should have the freedom to eat, drink, smoke, and be merry until it makes them mortally ill and kills them. But, I should also have freedom from having to pay financially for the consequences of their actions. This is just another end result of failing to hold people accountable for their own actions.

But, I will say I do favor smoking bans in places like Tiger Stadium. As for restaurants and privately owned establishments, the owner should set the rules, and if I don't like them, I will go somewhere else.

Good story: I had some little turd chain smoking next to me at the Florida game last year. I tried to play nice and let it go, but when Russell threw the int and Florida got the lead, I finally snapped and proceded to telly him if he lit one more cigarette, I was going to shove that mf'er down his skinny little f'n throat. Needless to say, he didn't smoke any more cigarettes during the game. What did I learn from all this? Even though I hate smoking, I guess I hate turnovers worse.

Glad you took it out on the guy next to you. I booed the **** out of Russell, as did the entire north end zone.

ok. the entire section 16, rows A through F, seats 20 through 30 did.

Had I known that the interception was wholly due to the wrist injury, I would have redirected my booing over towards the sidelines.

    BS, and more BS.

The government only pays about 10% of healthcare in the country. And you pay higher insurance because the government allows insurance companies to raise their rates because insuarance companies are high on the list of political donations.

If you want to pay less insurance move to just about any other state in the country, and the same coverages will be less.

Again I could care less if smoking was banned in every place of business in the country, as long as the decision was made by the owner of those businesses.

Where were you watching the game? I though there was no smoking in Tiger Stadium except down in the concession/bathroom area.

I think there is. I was on the 8th row on the west side (about the 45 yd. line) for that one.

It's legal to go barefoot and shirtless, too, but you can't do so in a restaurant for public health reasons. It's legal to carry a gun but you can't carry it into a bar for public safety reasons.

Ditto smoking. Its legality is not universal.
