I had seen others posting here that he would never go to LSU if given the option to coach at Texas. They were definitely right.
The reality is that LSU can't hire anyone it wants. The days of 'anybody would love to come here' disappeared as long ago as $1.25 gas. Let's give O a chance. He's earned it.
Against my better judgement and I hate to do this - but I give Alleva some credit. True the whole thing last year was a monumental train wreck, but this year he got some things right. Firing Miles after 4 games was roundly criticized nationally and even locally by some including me - but it was the right move. (Yeh I fully expect reply posts in violent disagreement because he didn't do it sooner or with more malice or water board Miles). He pursue his two top targets (I didn't think Jimbo should be on the list- but its his list) until they priced themselves out of the game. I wanted Herman and I think if Texas had won yesterday we could have had a different outcome. But I'm not convinced Herman is a 7 million dollar man; and I'm not convinced that O with an 'A' team of assistants can't be just as successful. So given the current situation - I think Alleva made the right move this morning.
I like CEO... I just hope he, unlike the previous Kind Uncle Jim, is willing to delegate. LSU just got rid of a coach that everyone loved but thought he was a genius.
If the Steers had been stupid enough to keep Strong, Herman might have left LSU after one year to go coach the puke orange. He's got a hard on to be in Austin. Let them have the bastard. I still say he's another Mike Archer.
Rumors coming out now that LSU turned down Herman when he asked for 6 Mil a year and 6+years. Might not be as Much about Herman and more about LSU not wanting to pony up the cash on a risk.
This. Herman never had the intention of coming to LSU. He may have flirted with it, but most knew he wasn't gonna be a Tiger with the Longhorn job opening up. He was mentally packing his bags for Austin before the Memphis game.
Well lots of this that and he said going to be circulating but the only rumors that matter now is the Fleetwood Mac album. It's done. What we know for sure is O is the man. Load up the pirogue and let's move forward. Geaux Tiguhs'
