First off, I can't belive Alleva leaked the story, even he isn't that stupid. I think this is all on Herman's agent shopping his guy. Second, Stacy, I don't remember ever disagreeing with anything you've ever posted here, but I kind of believe, at least in this case, that Coach Eaux is the right guy at the right time. He proved he could do more with Miles players than Miles could. Additionally, he and Ensminger fixed the offense "overnight," figuratively speaking, and was able to keep the team motivated after two difficult losses either of which could have killed the rest of the season. Sometimes things just work out for the best, even if it's not the way we wanted. I think and hope that we have got a "diamond in the rough" with Coach Eaux and wouldn't be surprised if next year we will talking about what a great hire Alleva made even though, in this case, it was more like a blind hog finding an acorn.
Come on Stacey. I expected the ranting and gnashing of teeth from most here but I thought you would have a cooler head. Once Jimbo was off the table and Herman came into play I had my doubts about whether he was worth the kind of money it would take to get him. Herman was like that girl who is so pretty that you can't see her flaws until one day you see without her makeup. Herman's makeup had already begun to fade and yesterday it came completely off in Memphis. Do you really want to make a guy who loses to 3 AAF teams one of the highest paid coaches in America? Would you want to hire Fedora, Gundy or any of the other clowns over Oeaux? If nothing else it only took Oeaux one game to make watching LSU Football fun to watch again after Elmer Find had sucked the life out of it. I'll bet you a pitcher of margaritas that Oeaux wins at least 10 games next season.
I could give a rats ass that Ed is a homeboy like some are saying. This fan base will turn on him quicker than they did on Les if he don't come in and win. It was the sensible hire. Herman would have been a huge gamble at 6mil.
