1. Didn't he have some sort of major injury during his playing career that affected his arm strength? If so, sounds like it must have healed by the time of that QB challenge.

If I remember correctly, the Chargers made the Super Bowl in the early 90s. That would have been something if a 40+ Bert Jones was their QB.
  2. I heard Bert Jones say on the radio a couple of years back that he could throw it 100yds in his prime. That's a little hard to believe.

In re: Jamarcus...once a bama boy, always a bama boy. Sorry, dude. You can't go back in time and take those chains & sweater off. Couldn't give less of a fuck about what happens to ya.
  3. Russel can lose the weight. He can lose the Codeine. He can get his fire back. He can get his rifle arm back perhaps. But can he get smarter? Jamarcus' problem has always been mental agility. It took him three years to learn the playbook at LSU and even then they dumbed it down to what he was good at. Russel never really learned to read defenses very well. I never thought that he had the brainpower to play in the NFL. I still don't.
  4. At least he lost the weight.
  5. I don't know Red, Russell is third in LSU Career Passing, the two guys above him both had 4 years to get those numbers(Hodson and Wickersham). In 2006 he passed for 3129 yds. with 28 TD's and 8 ints. He had a QB rating of 167.03. I hope him the best. One thing, there are still a number of teams in the NFL looking for QB's, he's gonna get a shot. Like all Tigers, I'm pulling for the guy.
    Robidoux87 likes this.
  6. I think a lot of LSU fans lost respect for him with the Bama Boy stuff all that, but he played for LSU and helped us win a lot. I still wish him well.
  7. I never questioned his arm.

I think Perrilloux has a better shot.
  8. I don't know how much a shot either has but JR has a solid backer from his work this summer. I would expect him to be invited to a camp at some point. I would say odds against both are high.
  9. I never thought he was stupid, it's not like he flunked out or anything. I just didn't think he was mentally quick enough for a pro quarterback. His rifle arm alone got him out of a lot of situations in college. It did not in the NFL.
