Is it possible to answer this question with some sort of negative value? Reggie Bush Sucks. He is a drain on the cap and should be arrested for stealing.

I agree, but I also do not think he's being put in position's to succeed. His greatest value is matched up on a linebacker or saftey out of the backfield and he's not getting the ball enough. He hasn't been bad in blitz pick ups, but you don't pay a player 8m to blitz pickup.

For 8m he had better find a position that works for him. He is soft and just pussy foots around.

A voice of reason. Wow the King really does have no clothes on! It's amazing what people can see when they just open their eyes and then think for themselves.

Just because someone's opinion differs from yours does not mean they aren't a free thinker. That's about as narrow minded of a statement as they come.

I'll be the first to admit that he's sucked since he's been back. I also admit that he doesn't deserve the 8m he's getting this year and will not be back if he doesn't take a pay cut.

I'm only saying that it's doubtful that the Saints win the Super Bowl last year without him. I'd even go so far to say that one of the reasons the Saints aren't as dominant as last year is because he's sucked so bad; which despite what tboy and some others will tell you, NO ONE could forsee. I will also say that if he doesn't pick it up in the playoffs and the Saints do not find their running game, they will not 2Dat. As good as Drew Brees is, if he has to carry the team by throwing the ball 50 times like he did tonight, I don't think they'll be able to win 3 straight road playoff games.

I've been as big a Bush water carrier as anyone over the years, and I am finally forced to concede that he is not worth the money we pay him, and probably won't be re-signed unless he agrees to a big pay cut on his next contract. But I think Bush is a victim of his own hype, rather than an overrated player. Hear me out on this: the hard data suggests Bush is not very productive. Agreed, he does not break tackles well, tries to get too cute sometimes, displays poor ball security and is injured too often. These traits are out there for anyone who wants to recognize them....at least, among fans. Around the NFL, Bush remains one of the most feared offensive weapons in the business. Look to last night's game for evidence. In the 3Q, Bush ran a sweep on 3rd and 2, and was met by at least 8 defenders at the line of scrimmage; Gruden said it was 10. Thomas never sees that kind of attention, unless he goes into the middle on short yardage. On the first scoring drive, PT broke a 20-yard run. The replay showed Bush go in motion, and 3 Falcons shifted with him, opening the lane where the play eventually went. Similarly against Baltimore last week, one of our best plays was a completion to Colston up the seam for about 30 yards. The replay showed on the play action fake to Bush, the entire Baltimore secondary bit on the fake. Plus, how often do you see Bush handed the ball, only to be met by a defender behind the line of scrimmage? More than half of his carries, I'd bet. Defenses game plan for the guy; they know the way to stop him is to not let him get started. The conclusion I draw from all of this is that despite 5 years of "underachieving", Reggie Bush still scares the he11 out of the rest of the league. That's not an 8 million dollar weapon, but its a weapon worth having, and I hope both sides can agree on what he's worth.

Good post. I agree. I also do not think Payton is doing a good enough job of getting him the ball in space. Still, if 3 or more people are keying on him every single play, then it's easier said then done.

Bush is also a victim of that pansy league he played in when he was at USC. He would be more durable had he played in the SEC.

Wow, resorting to personal attacks now when you don't agree with someone.
I didn't call you out. I didn't quote you. What I'm saying is don't buy the hype. I don't think there is any question the media hypes Bush. It is part of the storyline for the game. I know this because I work for the networks on game day. The director in the truck tells you, "Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story", and believe me they don't. I've seen it go as far as to give you untrue defensive statistics over the airwaves in terms of hurries, sacks, pressure on a QB,etc.. Because they know some of those stats are subjective and only a minute amount of people are keeping track of those stats. Now don't get me wrong the official stats are never tampered with. In the booth, the broadcasters are told what to say at various times during the game via their headsets, but much of the storyline, is scripted. For instance, after Bush's first touch, or reception, etc., they have a prepared statement ready to announce, which usually touts how integral Bush is to the Saints offense. When I'm working in the booth the "talent" rehearses all of this before the game even begins. Whether or not they realize it the average T.V. fan is being fed almost the same dribble game after game. The broadcasters will usually attempt to make the story fit. Therefore, when Bush is having a bad day or his stats or very minimal they will refer to how "he could break one at any time". How he "makes the entire offense that much more dangerous". They are trying to make the broadcast more exciting when he is actually doing very little--that is their job. They have these phrases ready to go. They are in their notes in front of them. I have stood next to them during the game with headsets on and heard what they hear and pointed to information that they immediately transmit over the airwaves. That is why I say people have to think for themselves to realize the shortcomings of Bush.

For $8M he needs to either deliver us another SB or at least deliver drinks and peanuts to my seats. :hihi:

Either way...I want my money's worth!

I still believe USC's weak competition ruined his chances of becoming a star in the NFL.
