How do they account for the defensive player's yards red? Just kidding. You seldom make mistakes so I had to take a jab while I had the chance.
Another thing to take into account is that Les and his coaching staff see talent and potential very well. Almost all of our players have been bumped up in their rankings throughout the recruiting process. For example Deangelo Benton, was a three star to begin with and now is in the rivals top 100. The ability to spot talent early on in the recruiting process is the key to successful recruiting because it allows you to get in on a player early and begin to develop that relationship.
Of all the Saban recruits that Miles is playing with, are any of them getting worse? One might say JV has disappeared, but he disappeared in Saban's last season, his sophomore year. A look at Jamarcus' stats indicates he has improved every year, and considering this year's schedule, he was outstanding for the most part. The receivers certainly haven't disappointed since Nick's departure. And the defense as a whole is just as strong, just a different look than what we had with Saban's defenses. From what I see on this years recruits, looks like Miles and staff are potentially stealing a few from some great programs, and also from lefire: ! I have nothing bad to say about the coaching staff that's in place now, and could care less if Nick goes to Bammer or wherever.
I project this year's class to end up as 3.82 stars on average (3 five-star, 17 four-star, 8 three-star). This would beat Saban/Miles' class of 2005, which had a 3.69 average. I agree, Les Miles is recruiting slightly better than Nick ever did. We never had this much attention from the blue chippers (5 star) under Nick Saban, that is the main difference to me.
Re: Who do yall think No telling.......Here's a pretty good recruiting recruiting link: http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=1475
Just what you said. They won't be ranked number one, but IMO that is kind of stupid when you are bringing in classes like they are. Was pretty much agreeing with ya just filling out the sentence. USC's recruiting is just off the wall crazy under Carroll, and if I were a coach I'd much rather get a chance to coach down all 4 & 5 star recruits instead of having to coach up 2/3 star guys. USC will stay in the top 5 year in and year out if they keep on recruiting the way they have. And if Miles keeps doing what he has been accomplishing we will stay up very high as well.
