Looking at some things, our D is absolutely loaded. From the notes, Divinity looks to be stepping into the player we thought he should be. Phillips looks to be developing nice: Devin White = Animal Greedy = Elite Lawrence, Alexander and Fehoko will be a combo K'Lavon = Elite Got some players in the secondary. Tyler Shelvin is gonna step in this year. Its hard not to look at this roster on D and not see over half on an NFL roster when its all said and done.
I thought Delpit had a hell of a freshman year and expect big things from him too. Defense definitely looks good. Notes from scrimmage are that the pass rush was strong and had the offensive line pretty rattled (lots of false starts and holding calls)
Yep....this defense is elite. Especially with Divinity coming into form our LB’s are READY. SS, NB and CB opposite Greedy are still up for grabs but I trust the athletes we have will come along nicely under Super Dave
We have some players in the secondary. Delpit, who should be back, Todd Harris was a high 4 star, Vincent was another high 4 star, Williams from the 2016 class, and dont sleep on JaCoby Stevens or Ed Paris. All of these kids were highly sought after.
Averages can be deceptive. Miami? From 2015-2018, they have been 27, 22, 12, and now 8. Maybe Richt brought a bag man but either way, Miami is going to have nothing to lose playing their guts out this season.
Clearly, like LSU's 3*'s who go on to dominate, however they are the baseline measurement we start with. Think about it, people picking LSU to lose 5 games when, on paper, LSU has more talent than all but 2... I am trying to get overly hyped, but the more I look at what is being built on the D, the more I am excited. The O has talent as well, we just haven't seen it live yet.
Reports from yesterday's scrimmage indicate the O was pretty much dominated by the D. Maybe Burrow doesn't need to buy that polish to clean his Heisman just yet.
Richt’s teams have historically not delivered when they’ve had high expectations. They’re definitely one of the best teammates in the ACC and are the favorite against LSU but last year could have been a flash in the pan. They had one dominant performance against ND but outside of that won a bunch of close games. Got man handled by Clemson and pushed around by Wisconsin.
