As I see it, Bama has already peaked. They are done. LSU on the otherhand is getting a second offensive peak with JJ at the helm. D is still playing great, and shows no signs of letting up. I don't think our D can peak, because they rotate too many people in and out. I think a rematch would be ugly. Let them put Bama up against us again. Go ahead. The result will put the last nail in the coffin of this idea of "rematches". After LSU stomps Bama in the second round, you will hear on ESPN, a bunch of backtracking, and how this validates the reasons why people do not want rematches. And ... I think we should all start an E-mail campaign to Robert Smith's account .... Hey Robert, you are a Bama Homer, and should be fired from ESPN.
I dont remember that. Are you sure he said that? Hilarious if so and I'd pay a small fortune to watch ESPN to put him on the spot and ask him why his team should go to the NCG if they dont win the SEC.
To be fair, we didn't jump any one loss teams. Ohio State was the only one loss team. We jumped a bunch of other two loss teams, including Gawga and USC (who started the season ranked 1st), by virture of being the best team from the best conference. There may have been a Utah or Hawaii or someone like that who was undefeated, but they weren't going to be in the running anyway.
Actually, Smith is an alum of The Ohio State University. He's not a Bama Homer, but he is an LSU Tiger hater.
This argument is getting old. For one, if Bama would have won, I don't think anyone on this board would think LSU didn't deserve a rematch, in fact there were several threads relating to that possibility prior to the Bama game. Two, the whole conversation makes us look scared for the rematch. And Three, it's out of our control who we play, let's just get there first and then beat the team on the other sideline. All this talk about how we'd rather play an inferior opponent like OSU or Stanford is beneath us.
I'm on record here saying BEFORE the game that the loser should not get a rematch, on principle, for the reasons given by the OP.
