Reasons Alabama should not get a "do over"

The BCSNC is supposed to determine the National Champion. You have to take into consideration what the potential outcomes of the game.

So if Bama won, we'd have this at the end.

LSU - 13-1 with a win over Bama and SEC West and SEC Champions
Bama 12-1 with a win over LSU. National Champions

LSU would have tied Bama in head to head matchups as well as have one more win and be the SEC West and SEC Champions.

If that is the case than the BCS has failed.

LSU still has a lot of work to do anyway.

The BCS standings for 2007, going into the bowls, with records:

    1. Ohio St. 11-1
    2. LSU 11-2
    3. Virginia Tech 11-2
    4. Oklahoma 11-2
    5. Georgia 10-2
    6. Missouri 11-2
    7. USC 10-2
    8. Kansas 11-1
    9. West Virgiana 10-2
    10. Hawaii 12-0

Who got ripped off by us going to the BCS?

If LSU wins out, the anti-Bama backlash will start in earnest after Dec. 3, especially if Okie State and VT win out. At that point, it becomes a debate amongst several one-loss teams. Okie State would be the Big 12 champ, with their one loss on the road in OT, and they will have a lot of people asking if Bama really is 2nd best, then why should they get another bite at the apple when they had every opportunity to control their own destiny and still lost at home? Despite the best efforts of SEC fans and sports writers, Bama can't make that home loss disappear, or make fans think it never happened.

Absolutely. Is there anyone better than Miles at getting ready his team ready for a big game?

And as much as a Lee supporter as I've been, Jefferson gives us the best shot at Bama's 3-4 defense. Those linebackers can't be nearly as aggressive.

Babe, most likely we'd beat Alabama. A heavy underdog might be more dangerous.

I respect Alabama, but don't like them. They don't deserve any gifts (like a do-over). They lucked into Saban (who'da thunk he'd flame out at Miami?). Their fans were not sufficiently good sports or respectful after the Tigers beat them this year. Their forums and newspapers are full of "life is so unfair" and "the better team lost crap." They banned LSU fans from posting in one of their forums after the loss. F*** Em. No gifts. They didnt get it done in their most meaningful game of the year. Its over. The tooth fairy aint real.

I agree with all this. It's why I'd love to smack 'em another one. Should we fall short it would be absolutely THE WORST loss ever, for me.

I think this scenario would be the X-factor to either Okie State or VT getting pushed over the finish line. The legitimacy of the BCS system is already on life support among college football fans. A Bama win in the NCG would pull the plug.
