Just recently read Hunger Games. Really enjoyed it; in fact, I finished it one day when I was traveling out to the west coast. Can't wait to read the next two in the series.

Currently reading Wherever I Wind Up by RA Dickey, pitcher for the NY Mets.

So has anyone here read or currently reading the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R.R. Martin?

I thought about getting into the whole GoT series, but for some reason I generally can't stand reading medieval sci-fi but really enjoy the movies (and in this case, the series) made from the books.

what more can a nerd ask for? Kings and Queens, drama, betrayal, beheadings, incest, lust, dragons, wolves, midgets, knights, wars, swords, spears, bows.

Yeah, a while back you mentioned it, I bought the first 3 books. I like,.. but for some reason I drifted away after about 150 pages, haven't got back to it yet.

Just finished rereading yet again, "Lord of the Rings". What an amazing masterpiece. My favorite book and movie.

I like Lord of the Rings, personally I enjoy the Silmarillion better by Tolkein. Tolkein was different, his stuff was way more PG than Martin's work. And Tolkein would take pages just to describe a tree or something, so I would get bored with it. But the Silmarillion, that is a masterpiece.

I gotta admit, his poetry is very hard to bear.

Too dry. It's like an outline for an epic.

It came out much later than the Hobbit and trilogy, I have it, never analyzed it deeply, I've thought of it, as more a notebook of middle earth's history, than a novel. I've probably missed out.
