With the so-called elite status of the LSU program, keeping this kind of thing hush hush is almost impossible. Couple that with the HC of the program being canned 4 weeks into his 12th season, and everyone wants to be the one to break the story.
Being tweeted by The Advocate. Houston coach Tom Herman denies contact with LSU: "Never going to comment on another job in-season".
Gawga and Miami didn't have a problem keeping inside information inside. There will always be speculation and debate, but no one with inside info should be leaking. It's extremely detrimental to the search and hiring process. It's just plain stupid!
Yes, but recruits and their parents, players and the UH administration will start asking questions. He is going to have to give them answers and he won't want to jeopardize what he's building now. It puts perspective coaches in a tough situation and this is going to play out for probably months. He either has to lie if he does have real interest or pull his name from consideration. It's much better to talk to him and show what LSU has to offer before he possibly feels the need to end the rumors and send LSUs search team packing. Once this kind of information blows up, the clock starts ticking IMO.
