RB by committee next year or clear cut starter?

Thats a great point about Alley having one more year to prove himself to the pros. I hope he puts the time in, he has the talent and size to really be a big time back. Alley also needs to get better at holding on to the ball. The fumble at Ark was a great play, but still, you cant fumble.

Id have Holliday back there, I said that a long time ago. If not maybe someone like J Mitchell or J Williams.

Runningback is a rhythm position. As much as Miles wants to keep everyone happy, he really can't if he wants to be sucessful running the football. I think you gotta pick two and run with it. If there are opportunities to get other guys in the game then so be it, but this is not t-ball where everyone gets to play.

And if Holliday can learn to field the ball the returner job is his for sure.

I think he made a mistake with the running back situation this year but it was a tough situation.

I think he will probably go by committee next year again. Look at how many chances Vincent got as a senior even though he wasn't doing a better job than me running the ball.

Broussard should be all healed up next year and he will be a senior which seems to factor big in Miles' book.

I think if Broussard, Hester, Williams, and Scott are pretty equal, he should put Hester at FB and use him in the passing game and with the occasional run. Redshirt Scott, if you can, to get a year separation between Scott and Williams. Then use Broussard as the starter and Williams as relief, kind of like McFadden and Jones or Irons and that other guy. That would be the best situation. Then if Williams starts playing better flip the roles. If one gets hurt you have Scott or move Hester back from FB. The bottom line is a RB needs touches to get the feel of the game. RB or QB by committee doesn't work so find a way to avoid it.

I think Miles will start out by giving them all a good amount of reps but by mid season Keiland will separate him from the rest of the rb's and become the clear cut starter. I would love to see Alley go back to the Alley of old but am not counting on it. I think the O line will be better next year making our running game better.

This same thinking cost us in both the Auburn and Florida games.

This isn't acceptable to wait that long. Pick one, pick the one who gives the LSU offense the best chance to succeed.

Last I remember the summer camps are there to make your mind up on who is the go to guy (not half of the regular season). Williams, barring injury, is ready to explode onto the scene. By the time we play VTech, the dude needs to be hitting his stride.

I dont think it cost us the Florida game at all. 5 turnovers did that game in especially with special teams. I do agree with you that he should have a decisive starter but I just dont think Miles will have his answer till mid way through the season. (Hopefully I am wrong) The O line should be better so whoever is running the ball will have a better chance. I would really like to see 2 good RB's so we could have a nice 1-2 punch and also have an insurance policy if one were to go down with injury.

Well, I can't remember when was the last time we had a "clear cut starter" at running back. Probably Harvey Williams??? Kevin Faulk had the most work when he was here, but even Rondell Mealey got some carries and played regularly.

I don't see anything that would lead me to believe that 2007 won't be much of the same.

I think it'll be a lot more predictable next year than it was this season (with injuries, to KW not getting cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse on time to the nagging little injuries that kept KW and in some reguard, Charles Scott from participating in more games).

I think 2007 will unfold with KW getting the most carries but Charles Scott and Hester also getting a good share.

I'm going to say that it'll be more like 2004 with Addai, Alley and JV type of rotation.

I think KW will rush for around 800 yards. Scott for 400-500 and then Hester, similar to this year, adding in close to 300.

But the days of an LSU back rushing for 1,000 yards as the team's "clear-cut" starter appear to be on hold. We simply just have too much talent.

If JR leaves, I think LSU goes to a power running game. Playing a fullback a lot more in which case, steltz would get more PT... With Bowe and Davis both leaving this year, I don't see the young guys getting in and keeping a three wr set as a base package.

I'd figure if Broussard shows that he's "back" next year, he'll get at least as many carries as Williams. He'd fit the power running game best. I think between first and second down, they'll split carries 50%, and on third downs you'll see hester for his blocking ability and pass catching. Charles Scott's the odd man out this year
