    I agree with both of you. Most presidents are very low key after leaving office, and I do agree that's a good thing. My guess is that W won't have much to say, hell, he doesn't like making statements in office.

    Im gonna go out on a limb here a say I don't think Red will be breaking bread with GW anytime soon. :lol:

    Seriously, i must say im very impressed with everyone's knowledge on this subject. I don't have such knowledge, unfortunately, so i won't waste anyone's time with empty statements.

    I find it amazing how people have SUCH different views on GW and Willy. It seems they are like the Dallas Cowboys...you either love em or hate em.

    Actually ol' Dub is a very likeable feller. I'd like to go fishing with him and drink a beer or twelve. I bet he's great at a barbeque or a poker game. Don't you figure he has some great tequila-drinkin', coke snortin', high-rollin' pussy hound stories? I'll bet he was a great oil man.

    I just think he's an incompetent President.

    You people are seriously delusional and watch way too much TV. George W. Bush comes from a privaleged, wealthy, northeastern blue blood family related to Queen mum. A Senator's grandson, a President's son, graduated from Ivy league Yale, as his father did, and was a member of the Skull & Bones society. You would not relate well, or appreciate, his stories, jokes, and humor.
    Of course, the misconception of W. as an everyman, average Joe, by the 'masses' , or peasants if you please, is a huge political asset. You either have that, or you don't (Kerry).

    Yeah, he was raised in and lived in Texas for many years. I know a friggin' Texan when I see one.

    You'd be surprised who I have related well with. :lol:

    Sorry Lord Frogleg, we don't have peasants in this country. Just republicans with an haughty, patronising scorn of their fellow citizens.

    The family is Northeastern (as in, when they visit relatives, they go to Maine and Connecticut). And W. spent a lot of his formative years in the Northeast: Phillips Academy Prep School, Yale, Kennebunkport. I do not consider W. a real Texan. Could a real Texan have been the head cheerleader at a Northeastern Prep. School? (I had forgotten that, geez, i'm gonna have to re-rank my Presidents):redface:

    from widipedia:

    Born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946, Bush was the first child of George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush (née Pierce).
    Bush attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he played baseball, and was the head cheerleader at the all-boys school during his senior year.[12] Following in his father's footsteps, Bush attended Yale University, where he received a Bachelor's degree in history in 1968.[13] As a college senior, Bush became a member of the secretive Skull and Bones society, although, by his own characterization, Bush was an average student.[14]

    "and was the head cheerleader at the all-boys school during his senior year."
    Maybe you are right:hihi::yelwink2:

    Well, that is actually where his grandfather lived and where his family vacation home is. George Bush the Elder moved to Texas in 1948, when Dubya was two, and still lives there. He raised his family there and It is where George Bush the Younger worked all his life. Prep school and college was the only time Dubya spent in the northeast, other than on vacation. They don't come much more Texan.

    I wonder why you edited out:
