I'm 36 and def not trust fund or frat but like many of Jimmy Buffett's songs. I also like how he collaborates with many different musicians, including talented guys like Sonny Landreth that aren't well know nationally.
Buffet and Frank Sinatra do a great version of Mack the Knife together. I was going to post the video here but on youtube it says that the video has been blocked due to copyright grounds. You can probably find the audio somewhere if you want to download it
I just listened to the audio. What a hell of a version they sang. I wonder how many fingers of Jack and how many redos it took for Frank to get it to his satisfaction?
Jack for Frank and reefers for Jimmy. Couldn't find the video but here is the audio from grooveshark http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Mack+The+Knife+feat+Jimmy+Buffett/18Pho?src=5
It's going to have to wait. Right now I'm jamming to Chicago's greatest hits. Must be doing a good job. My wife just shut the door.
I just found out about grooveshark a little while ago when I search for that song. It looks like it might beat the hell out of Pandora and its free. Jamming to a Bob Marley playlist I just made
There is no accounting for taste but this is how they rank on subjective criteria. Platinum albums 1. Dylan 2. Springsteen 3. Joel 4. Simon 5. Buffet 6. Petty Gold Albums 1. Dylan 2. Springsteen 3. Buffet 4. Simon 5. Joel 6. Petty Albums Sold 1. Joel 2. Springsteen 3. Dylan 4. Simon 5. Buffet 6. Petty Grammy Awards 1. Springsteen 2. Dylan 3. Simon 4. Joel 5. Petty 6. Buffett
Here is a better factoid: Poster with WAY too much time on his hands. 1. @red55 Get to work slacker, you are on the states dime
Some of that could just be numbers. If you consider studio, live, and compilation albums, Dylan has way more than anyone else with 77. Buffet is the closest with 48. I have to think that the age of music videos changed dynamics somewhat. Springsteen put out 39 music videos, Billy Joel with 50! I just don't see that being a Dylan thing even if it came past most of his early work. Paul Simon looks to have the best ratio in terms of albums to "wins". His total is just 22. Like you said, taste doesn't necessarily correlate. Bieber, Madonna, Psy, Gaga.....lots of money, maybe not so much talent.
