Surprisingly, Florida is right up there with Texas and California every year with the number of 4 and 5 star players. Its amazing the talent that such a small state, in comparison to Texas and California is able to turn out each year.
Which is why I still ranked them #1. I was just saying that if someone was looking at it from the outside, that may be something they take into consideration.
no, Tennessee. plus dont underestimate the value of having a great, prominent nfl player as an alum. they also have a nc more recently than UF and UGA. dont confuse recent success with best job--although, obviously "best job" is quite subjective. bama hasnt been good since mid 90's (i remember last year) but they could be considered a great job because of the number and devotion of their fans. id guess its far more than of any other sec team---lsu wasnt able to offer saban 5mil a yr like bama just did to a lesser coach. auburn is on the other side. theyve had a few good runs, but thats the exception.
why do you consider it a small state? not sure about the population, but they have by far the most electoral votes in the south
Tennessee has been a power since the early to mid 90's. Georgia has been a power since the early 80's. Peyton helps and the title in '98, but Georgia has much more history. Bama could be a great job. They have the legendary tradition of titles. Only thing holding Bama back is the ghost of the Bear. It would take a coach with serious clout and accomplishments to remove it. Take Shula, he had a great year last year, this year they lose. He is already gone. They wont accept an avg season. Someone like Saban, Stoops, Spurrier, or Carroll may be able to get the extra patients to turn the team around. Unless you can get some winning seasons early on and re-establish the Bama tradition they wont accept a losing season. So overall, its not really a good job. Right now they dont have the athletes to compete in the SEC. Bama is still coming back from the probation of a few years back.
According to population (2000 Census) Florida is the 4th largest in the country. 1. California = 33.8 million 2. Texas = 20.8 million 3. New York = 18.9 million 4. Florida = 15.9 miliion Florida has only half the pop. of California, and is 25% smaller than Texas. To put it into context, if you removed from Texas 4 of their largest cities, Houston (2 mil), Dallsa (1.1 mil), San Antonio (1 mil), and Austin (.5 mil), Texas would still have a larger population than Florida does.
