Russell doesnt know the offense yet. He doesnt know the proper check offs and such. That said, though i have been a randall guy, i think russell should get the start. Fisher should dumb down the offense so that the options are very simple and limited in the passing game, and put in some plays to take advantage of russells athleticism. Also, though, i think if LSU does go with the running QB approach, using both of them isnt a bad idea. Keeps the legs very fresh, like with the RBs.

Great point about Russell's athleticism. He can make a busted play come out to your advantage.

Since we are talking about what Nick will do I believe Randall start's. Russell in early and then maybe a Hodson Guidry thing to some extent but not much.

Don't really see a need to start Russell when Randall could get sparky and look like a SEC player of the week. If he Doesn't have it here comes JR. I also don't think it takes a loss for Saban to change to a one QB system. He will do the right thing.

Going to be a wet field, perhaps rain during the game. Both will play plenty.

I think it's an astute point regarding CNS taking pressure off of Russell by naming Randall the starter early in the week. Looks like sound reasoning to me.

If the field is wet then i am very concerned. I agree that Randall will start and Russell will come in later. IMO Russell will be starting at least one of the road games.

I detect nervousness from the LSU posters on this thread. Auburn is not to be trifled with and no one wants the Plainsmen to get the jump on us. There's a mistrust of Randall based upon his history, especially against Auburn. Saban doesn't want to get behind the 8 ball in this game any more than the fans do. We'll just have to trust his coaching judgement and see what happens. I don't think we should get all worked up over this. Nick makes the big bucks to worry about it for us. Defense will be the key in this game. If we can control the running game and force Campbell to be the hero then I like our chances. If we can't, it doesn't matter who's at QB for the Tigers. I don't think we've reached the point (yet) where the offense has to win the game for us.

I'd have bought 100% into your reasoning before the OSU game, but surely not after.

If Nick Saban put Russell back into the game on 4th and goal with the game on the line, needing to convert to (as we thought at the time) have any chance of winning the game, that spoke volumes.

Whatever decision Nick makes (and I'm hoping for Russell myself), he needs to not have a quick hook regardless of how things start. Yanking the starting QB early in the first road game of the year against a ranked conference rival in a big game would have a chilling effect on the rest of the offense. If they struggle for a drive or two, give them a little leeway to try and fight through it as a unit.

Why couldn't this damn game have been scheduled in October like it was last year?

I am tired of all this butt love for Randall. He has been here for 4 years and has done anything to stand out and deserve a starting role. So he should get it why, because he has been here screw that, a few years ago that didn't mean crap with Booty. grant it he sucked really bad, by people wanted his head on a platter. Do you guys even remember what happened 2 years ago when Randall went into Au after a good USC game. He got beat like he stole something.

All this pressure crap with Russell is B.S. too, the guy is not a true Freshman, he is a redshirt, which means he knows what goes on on the field. The guy is a freak of nature, came into a game where he expected to just get mop-up time and lead the time to victory.
Randall has had his chance I am sorry it didn't work out for the guy, he looks great in PRACTICE but he is in no shape way or form a GAMER!

People need to stop feeling sorry and get off their knees and let the guy walk away. I would rather lose with the future at the helm then the Ghost of Christmas past.
