Really? Democrats always claim to the party of "nice" and it's such a facking lie. That said, Paul is truly neither of them, occasionally both of them, and still the most likely to be true to his own values.

You miss the point. Dems have been using an alleged "War on Women" to persuade voters to go left. The truth is, the left is just as effing guilty when it suits their purpose. The laughter and hilarity ensuing Sheehan's gaffe and the people listening and encouraging him, are vile.
Women have gone left on their own, amiga, and they are speaking for themselves. Republican women elected Bill Clinton twice.
Its not beyond belief that the "gaffe" was on purpose. If he hadn't done it the video would likely not have gotten nearly the youtube views as it did and politicians crave publicity
Wow you guys are actually thinking about voting for someone with common sense. Rand isn't going independent or libertarian. You can't win in those parties. He's using the GOP as a platform. This country is politically at the bottom of our history barrel. Without getting rid of everyone nothing will ever change.
When you sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas. Paul takes GOP money, he promotes GOP agendas, and he is a member of the Tea Party movement. Nothing Independent, libertarian, or moderate about him. Conservative Republican through and through.
He's not his father. Where exactly does Rand Paul stray from core Republican policies? Seriously. People normally associate the term libertarian with those who have economically conservative and socially liberal political views. Clearly he is economically conservative, but what socially liberal policies does he have? Rand Paul is anti-abortion, anti same-sex marriage, anti-affirmative action, anti environmental protection, anti-animal welfare, anti-gun control, anti-health care reform, anti marijuana legalization. He is pro God-in-public, pro-privatization of social security, pro-Tea Party, and pro-school vouchers. I'm not aware of any social or economic policy he has that is not in line with Republican policy, with the possible exception of immigration reform, which he is both for and against.
Funny how that works. There is no room for light to pass between Libertarian and Republican positions if they are defined that way. My point was that he is not running as a Republican because libertarians can't get elected. He is running as a Republican because his views are right in line with Republican policies. I will pay attention to these policies. It will be interesting to see if he can win republican primary votes without distancing himself from them. We must consider his public beliefs in this case. He can't just oppose an issue he actually believes in simply because the government has a part in it. And it seems at odds with his position that the government be empowered to interfere in a family/medical decision on abortion.
