No one is making him play football. if they are worried about walking later in life or getting paralyzed by playing football, they can go into another line of business.
i drive a truck for a living. i could get paralyzed or killed any day. I also could paralyze or kill another person. Yet, I don't make 20 million or 2 million per year.

I'm all for JaMarcus, and I don't blame him for frowning on the Raiders. Just look how astute they have been signing players, coaches and front office. It all starts at the top, baby, big Al. He's way past his prime and his pride won't let him give it up. No decent GM will work for him, if he has to call the shots. No decent head coach will work for him, if he's going to tell him how to run the team (Jerry Jones problem, after Jimmy J. and before the Tuna).

Holding out for a trade or to re-enter the draft could end up being the smart long term play, not playing for the Raiders. If you're Culpepper and on the backside of a career, why not pick up a good paycheck? I don't blame him. But if you're JR, its a different deal. If the Raiders are going to pick you #1, they're going to have to pay you like a #1. That's it, plus a premium for playing for idiots, not less money because Davis is senile.

I've changed my thinking a bit since watching that NFL news video about the Raiders being cheap azz's.

I still think its important for a rookie QB to be in camp and practicing but Davis is being a retard for thinking he could make an example out of JR. Why does he think JR will accept a deal that contains terms no top pick has ever had to accept? Thats just bizarre.

I dont think it helps JR career wise if he misses an entire season. I think it would probably hurt him badly if he did but Davis needs to pony up and get his number 1 draft pick signed.

You have no future as a football scout.

OMG, anything to get JR away from the Raiders. I'd like him to actually have a decent NFL career. And Davis's thinking that he can pull this BS just reinforces my opinion that JR needs to get the hell away from LA as fast as he can.

Russell doesn't have to worry about finding a job in pro football. The Raiders have to worry about finding a top quarterback who will be there for a while. I think Davis caves pretty soon.

In hindsight maybe going pro early wasn't such a great idea. I'm sure Russell's agents are financing a decent lifestyle knowing it will produce a return, but I my purple and gold worldview just makes me wander 'what if'.

Big Al cutting off his nose to spite his face...

I don't think the "suck it up, its only a few mill" argument is even worth debating. Just picture yourself at your perspective job taking a 10% pay cut after getting out of school top of your class.

What are you talking about, if leave early and are selected in the top 10 then leaving was a great decision, if you leave early and not get drafted like Trev Faulk then you made a mistake. He was selected first overall what else do you want? He is going to get paid his money, personally I'd rather see him sit and watch a year and not get beat up behind that swiss cheese o-line anyway and maybe Al will die soon and they will get a real GM to surround him with talent.
