  I did not mean it or realize it. I must profoundly apologize then. I promise to pay much closer attention. That has to be about the worst thing to be compared to ..........a yankee and a nutter damer.:sob: :sob: :sob: :sob:
As I understand it, the Raiders retain his rights to play in the league until the 2008 draft unless they trade him. Bo Jackson was picked by the Bucs in 86 but didn't sign, so the Raiders drafted him in a late round of the 87 draft. He is not eligible for free agency until the Raiders release him, but since they haven't signed him yet, they have no reason to do so. He costs them no money and his rights are not dependant on a roster spot. The rules are really set up to benefit the team, not the rookie player. It looks like it's the Raiders or a year off. As an old time Raiders fan, I am very disappointed. GEAUX TIGERS Thorny
If this were Brady Quinn, this story would be on the news all the time, it is getting very little coverage
Well, obviously, I'm NOT a Raiders fan, so I wouldn't be heartbroken if JR didn't end up in the silver-n-black, but JR is walking a fine line. He will be the target of TONS of criticism if his demands go too far. However, signing Culpepper probably helps both the Raiders AND JR: Let Culpepper and his balky knee take the severe punishment from the worst offensive line in the league, giving JR a year to sit on the sideline, learn the game and give the Raiders another year to hopefully get some decent blockers.
Am I the only one here who thinks this is not good for JR? The last person in the world who needs to miss a training camp is a rookie QB. From what I heard on the NFL network on Sirius they are only a few million apart. JR wants 31 mil, the Raiders are offering 27. JR needs to tell his agent to make the deal and get his azz into camp. 3 or 4 million when we are talking the 30 million range is peanuts. He needs the work regardless of his skills. This is the NFL and he is better off in practice as opposed to sitting around with his "Bama Boy" belt buckle on. :dis:
I’m ignorant of the whole situation. I’m taking it on faith that this guy knows what he’s talking about, and I found it informative – ESPN Video
btw everyone. watch the video, it pretty much explains it all. Raiders want to pay him close to what Mario Williams got last year. They're ignoring the QB premium which every QB on the planet gets, plus they dont want to give him a skill and injury gaurantee, which every first pick have gotten for the past FIFTEEN YEARS!!!! As the guy in the video said, the Raiders need to enter the 21st century.
