1. I am glad to see folks here expressing the opinion that we should give PM time. It is going to take time to build the program back to the top of the SEC and the Nation.

While I agree that Smoke and his assistants did not help us and probably hurt LSU Baseball, I don’t think it started with him. I look back to the day the Turtle Thomas came to LSU. He had a great reputation as a recruiter, but after he came to LSU he never could finesse that fine line between picking good HS talent that would actually end up on campus and the ones that would go pro. That is a difficult and seemingly impossible task, but other schools do it. Maybe I am wrong or just naïve, but I think we missed out on some exceptional college talent.

I also found the frequent and recurring injuries to pitchers to be problematic. I always wondered about the off field training and how we used or abused the pitching staff in fall and pre season practice.

My opinion is that PM is addressing these problems and will, given the time and support (fans and administration), build LSU Baseball back up to level we all expect. He has already started as evidenced by his comments in fall camp about how he uses the pitchers in practice.

  2. PM did not inherit the same program that Smoke did and it will take much hard work to rebuild. I like what he is doing so far even though the results on the field will take more time than we would like to turn around. I wonder if he knew how far down smoke had taken the program and if he is suprised by the amount of work he will have to do?
  3. Its going to take time for PM. One small thing that every one is forgetting is how young we are. PM will get the program back to where it needs to be. We just have to face it this is a different game then it use to be. We will be back to form quicker then most people think. As for UK that team can flat out hit and look for them to have a good season. That was no fluke the way they came in a put it on us in the Box. Anytime you face a team that bats .350 as a team of course its gonna tough. We will get back to form just keep cheering on the :tigbas:!!!!
